Gauteng - Two children were killed in a Kempton Park car crash shortly before midnight, paramedics have confirmed.

ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen in a statement said an eight-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl died while three others were injured when two vehicles collided on the corner of Atlas and Bass roads.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene at 23:30, another medical service assessed the two children but despite their best efforts the children were declared dead on scene,” she said.

“A vehicle was lying on its side. A woman was found a few meters from the vehicle. She was found to be in a serious condition.

“A man was walking around on the scene and sustained minor injuries.”

A baby of about six months was found with moderate injuries in her car seat in the nearby bushes by emergency services.

“Another vehicle was found in a ditch but the driver sustained no injuries,” Van Huyssteen said.

“The exact circumstances are not yet known to our paramedics but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.”
