Bloemfontein - Two people were killed when two trucks collided and caught alight on the N8 between Bloemfontein and Kimberley on Thursday, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said at least two people sustained fatal burn injuries, leaving open the possibility that more may have been killed.

Paramedics arrived on scene, about 20km from Bloemfontein, and found the trucks alight.

Fire and Rescue Services were on scene extinguishing the fire, she said.

“It was confirmed that there were two people who sustained burn injuries. Sadly there was nothing that could be done for them.

“Authorities are on scene. It cannot be confirmed at this state if there were any other fatalities on scene,” Bodasing added.

In another incident in KwaZulu-Natal, two people were killed and four others injured when a bus and car collided on the Madadeni/Osizweni Road near Amajuba.
