Two knife-wielding suspects arrested after allegedly trying to rob pupils

Johannesburg - Two knife-wielding suspects were arrested after they allegedly attempted to rob two pupils of their cellphones in Benoni, police said on Wednesday.

The two men were spotted by members of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department's drug enforcement unit, Lieutenant Colonel Wilfred Kgasago said.

The incident happened around 14:40 on Monday at the intersection of Bunyan and Newlands streets in Benoni.

The suspects, both aged 18, were detained at the Benoni police station and were expected to appear in the magistrate’s court soon.
