Krugersdorp - Two women have been arrested after allegedly assaulting a man and stealing his phone on Saturday in Kagiso, Krugersdorp.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said the man knew the two women who were aged 36 and 40.

“The complainant was allegedly walking down the street when two women, known to him, appeared in possession of sticks and started approaching him,” Sibiya said in a statement.

The women attacked the man and he fled into a nearby house for safety.

“The suspects allegedly followed and dragged the complainant out of the yard. They further assaulted him all over the body using sticks.  As he was on the ground pleading with them not to injure him further, the suspects searched him and took his cellphone.”

Police arrested the two women on Sunday. A case of robbery was opened against them.

After appearing briefly in the Kagiso Magistrate’s Court on Monday, they were released on a warning.
