University of Johannesburg building gutted

Johannesburg – A building at the University of Johannesburg’s Kingsway campus was completely gutted in the early hours of Monday morning.

The exact cause of the blaze at the Sanlam Auditorium has not yet been confirmed but university management is on scene.

Students were due to write exams in the building and it is unclear if they will be moved to another venue or if their exams will be delayed.

The auditorium contained three computer labs, a printing station and the student finance centre.
