Johannesburg – Critically injured crash victims were robbed and stripped of their clothes as they lay near the wreckage of their vehicle on Main Reef Road in Crown Mines on Sunday.

A woman died in the crash.

ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said paramedics rushed to the scene after a report that a vehicle had crashed into a wall.

“EMS found a bakkie near a damaged wall of a building, several metres away from the road. It is believed the bakkie hit the pavement and crashed into the wall,” he said.

“Paramedics found three critically injured patients lying near the damaged vehicle. A woman, believed to be in her 30s, was dead,” he said.

Vermaak said medics attending to the wounded found various items of clothing missing.

“They [medics] were told that a group of bystanders arrived on the scene moments after the crash and apparently stole all their [the victims'] personal belongings, including clothes and shoes. The injured said bystanders went through the damaged vehicle and took several items,” he said.
