Durban - A Werda School pupil has been suspended after he was filmed beating up another pupil in a street, the Durban school said on Friday.

"It is with this in mind that we have already initiated an internal disciplinary process against the alleged offenders," governing body chairperson Gerhard Botha said in a statement.

He did not provide details about the boys' ages or which grades they were in.

In a video doing the rounds on social media, the victim, dressed in full uniform, is approached by a much taller pupil on Thursday. The bully slaps him to the ground and kicks him in the stomach.

"Let me go. I don’t want any trouble," the victim cries.

Instead the bully replies: "You don’t want any trouble? Then why the fuck did you snitch on me?"

He pulls him from the ground, shoves him back down and kicks him in the back.

While the pupil lies on his back with his hands up, the bully gives him a stern warning.

"It is your last warning, next time I will put you in fucking hospital, you understand me?"

Botha said the school had a zero tolerance to bullying.

"We see this latest incident in a serious light, despite the fact that it happened outside the school premises," he said.
