WATCH: Friends describe the moment they were struck by lightning at Loskop Dam

2019-02-12 16:30

Clinton Fleming and Jaco le Roux were out fishing with their families at Loskop Dam near Middelburg, Mpumalanga when they were struck by lightning.

"It was a flash of white, white, white light, blinding us", says 29-year-old Fleming.

They were thrown about two metres off from where they were standing when the incident took place on 12 January.

At first, Fleming thought he was paralysed. "I couldn't feel anything on my legs."

Thirty five-year-old Le Roux's injuries were severe. The lightning hit his fishing rod and it burnt a gaping hole just above his bladder. He thought he was going to die.
