Cape Town - Helicopters are water-bombing a fire at Horse Shoe Bend on Sir Lowry's Pass on the N2 in the Helderberg area on Thursday.

The City of Cape Town's fire and rescue services asked for aerial support after the extensive vegetation fire was reported in the early hours of the morning, spokesperson Liezl Moodie said.

One lane of the N2 towards Grabouw was closed.

Nine firefighting vehicles were on the scene and no property was currently in danger.

The cause of the blaze had not yet been determined.
