"We've called for airlift support for water bombing," spokesperson for the City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services Liesl Moodie said.

"Numerous wood and iron structures and reeds are burning."

Firefighters are on the scene.

No injuries have been reported as yet.

Last year, at least two people were found dead and thousands lost their homes in a devastating fire that raced through the informal settlement near Fish Hoek.
