Pietermaritzburg - Water restrictions are set to hit Howick within the next few weeks.

uMgungundlovu District (uMDM) municipal spokesperson Mbali Ndlovu said times of the restrictions and areas affected are still being discussed by technical services.

“uMDM will host a media briefing next week informing all public and stakeholders regarding the water reduction,” said Ndlovu. “Currently technical services is consolidating all required statistics and information. The Department of Water and Sanitation has instructed Umgeni Water to reduce the supply of water to all its customers by 15%.”

She said this would affect all the district’s consumers to preserve the current water supply. The reduction would be gazetted later this month, she said.
