Weather: Temperatures rise as rainfall decreases across SA

Temperatures are expected to rise along the northern border and the western parts of the Northern Cape with the rest of the country enjoying cooler conditions on Friday.

Rain

Isolated showers are predicted for KwaZulu-Natal, the northeastern parts of the Free State, the eastern parts of Gauteng, the extreme northeastern parts of the North West, the southwestern parts of Limpopo, Mpumalanga, with scattered showers in the morning in the eastern parts of Mpumalanga. 

Temperatures

Minimum temperatures will be cooler along the West Coast and central interior of the country, with warmer conditions moving eastwards. 

The coldest place in South Africa will be Sutherland in the Northern Cape, dropping to a freezing -1°C.

Maximum temperatures are expected to warm along the northern border, with warm temperatures across the Gauteng region, the eastern parts of the North West, and Mpumalanga, the northern parts of the Free State, as well as the western parts of the Northern Cape and northeastern and northwestern parts of the Western Cape.

Cooler temperatures are predicted along the East Coast, the coastline, and the West Coast included the extreme southwestern parts of the Western Cape. 

Moving inland, the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the south and southeastern parts of the Free State, the southern parts of Mpumalanga, the western parts of KwaZulu-Natal, and the Eastern Cape will all enjoy cool weather.

The hottest places in South Africa will be Phalaborwa and Lephalale in Limpopo, both reaching a high of 29°C.

Pretoria will experience a maximum of 27°C, while Johannesburg will have a high of 25°C. Bloemfontein will see a high of 23°C.

Along the coastal regions, Cape Town will reach 22°C, Port Elizabeth 22°C and Durban will see a maximum of 23°C.
