Weather Update: Cape Town enjoys rain over the weekend

Rainfall is expected to continue over most parts of the Western Cape on Saturday evening.


Heavy rain is expected across the southwestern parts of the Western Cape on Saturday evening, with widespread isolated showers across the rest of the Western Cape.

The eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal will experience isolated morning showers.

The rest of the country remains dry.


Minimum temperatures are expected to be cold, with very cold conditions over the central parts of the country including the Free State, the Northern Cape, and the North West.

The coldest place in South Africa is Vryburg in the North West, dropping to a freezing -3°C.

Maximum temperatures remain cool across the country while temperatures increase across the northern and eastern regions.

Warm conditions are expected along the East Coast and the central and southern parts of Limpopo, while hot weather conditions are expected in the Musina region.

The hottest places in South Africa are expected to be Skukuza in Mpumalanga, Phalaborwa, Musina, and Lephalale in Limpopo, all reaching a high of 27°C.

Pretoria is expected to experience a maximum of 21°C, while Johannesburg and Bloemfontein are expected to have a high of 20°C.

Along the coastal regions, Cape Town will reach a high of 17°C, while Port Elizabeth will reach a maximum of 22°C, and a high of 24°C is expected for Durban.
