Weather Update: Cold weather following the cold front in SA

Cold morning conditions are expected across the country as the cold front passes on Wednesday.


Scattered showers are expected between the Port Edward and Durban regions of KZN as the cold front passes.

The rest of the country remains dry.


Minimum temperatures are expected to be cold across the country as the cold front passes over the East Coast.

Temperatures are expected to drop to near freezing in the Free State, and cooler weather is predicted for the central and northern parts of the country while the southern coastline, including the Eastern Cape, can expect moderate conditions.

The coldest place in South Africa is expected to be Sutherland in the Northern Cape, dropping to a freezing 0°C.

Maximum temperatures are expected to be moderate across the country, with cool temperatures across the Western Cape and the southern coastline as well as the southern parts of the Northern Cape.

Temperatures are set to increase across the central and eastern parts of the country including the Free State, the North West, Gauteng and KZN, with warmer conditions along the northern border.

The hottest places in South Africa will be Phalaborwa in Limpopo and Skukuza in Mpumalanga, reaching a high of 33°C.

Pretoria is expected to experience a maximum of 25°C, while Johannesburg is expected to have a high of 24°C. A high of 22°C is predicted for Bloemfontein.

Along the coastal regions, Cape Town is expected to reach 19°C, Port Elizabeth 22°C and Durban 26°C.
