Weather Update: Hot weather persists in the north, warm weather for the rest of SA

Warm weather is expected for most parts of the country on Thursday while conditions in the north are expected to be hot.


Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in the North West, the Free State, the extreme eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the northern interior of the Eastern Cape and Gauteng.


Isolated showers are expected along the south-western parts of the Western Cape as well as the northern parts of the Highveld region.


Minimum temperatures are expected to be cool over the Little Karoo and Great Karoo, while the rest of the country is expected to experience moderate to warm morning conditions.

Sutherland in the Northern Cape is expected to be one of the coldest regions, dropping to 0°C.

Maximum temperatures are expected to remain cool along the West Coast and the coastline.

Temperatures are expected to increase across the central interior of the country, the Highveld region and along the East Coast, while hot conditions are expected in the north, including the northern border and the northern parts of the North West.

Rustenburg in the North West is expected to be one of the hottest places, reaching a high of 36°C.

Pretoria is expected to reach a high of 33°C, while Johannesburg is expected to reach a high of 32°C and Bloemfontein a high of 30°C.

Cape Town is expected to reach a high of 18°C, while Port Elizabeth is expected to reach a high of 23°C and Durban a high of 27°C.
