While hundreds flocked to the Ceres region on Tuesday to revel in the snow, 40 homes were lost in Johannesburg after open flames razed the tin houses.WATCH

Scattered showers are expected for some parts of the country, including the central region along to the northern parts of the country with temperatures remaining cool on Tuesday.

Rain

Scattered showers can be expected across the central interior of the Free State and Gauteng and along the northern border, including most parts North West, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

The rest of the country remains dry.

Temperatures

Minimum temperatures will be cool across the country with cold conditions expected over the Free State region.

The coldest place will be Sutherland in the Northern Cape, dropping to a below-freezing -2°C.

Maximum temperatures remain cool throughout most of the country. Warm weather is expected along most parts of the West Coast, Oudtshoorn region, East London coastline and the eastern parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

The hottest place is Vredendal in the Western Cape, with a high of 29°C.

Pretoria will reach a high of 20°C, while Johannesburg is expected to reach 18°C, and Bloemfontein is expected to experience a maximum of 17°C.

Along the coastal regions, Cape Town will reach a high of 20°C, while Port Elizabeth is expected to reach 23°C and Durban will reach a maximum of 24°C.
