Weather update: Warm conditions are expected across most of SA

Temperatures increase across most of the country with fire alerts in the Northern Cape and Western Cape as the rain clear up on Tuesday.

Alerts

Veld fires are expected in the Pofadder region of the Northern Cape, as well as in the central Karoo in the Western Cape.

Rain

Wet weather conditions are expected along the West Coast, the southern parts of the Free State, the central parts of the North West, the central parts of Mpumalanga, Gauteng and the northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

Temperatures

Minimum temperatures are expected to be cool across the northeastern parts of the Eastern Cape, the southwestern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, including the kingdom of Lesotho, where unexpected snowfall has been reported.

The rest of the country will experience warmer morning conditions.

Maximum temperatures are expected to be cool along the southern parts of the Western Cape and the central Karoo, the central and the northern parts of the Eastern Cape, the southern parts of the Free State, the southern parts of Mpumalanga, as well as along the East Coast.

Temperatures rise along the coastline, across most of the interior, including the northern parts of the Western Cape, the Northern Cape, the North West, the central and northern parts of the Free State, Gauteng, and the central and northern parts of Mpumalanga.

Pretoria is expected to experience a maximum of 24°C, while Johannesburg is expected to have a high of 23°C. A high of 22°C is predicted for Bloemfontein.

Along the coastal regions, Cape Town is expected to reach 24°C, Port Elizabeth 29°C and Durban 26°C.
