Weather Update: Wet weekend for the Western Cape

Cape Town and the surrounding areas can look forward to some rain on Saturday evening.


Heavy rain is expected in the Clanwilliam region of the Western Cape and along the West Coast, including the western parts of the Northern Cape. 

Isolated showers are expected across Cape Town and surrounding areas, including Paarl and Worcester in the Western Cape, and the central parts of the Northern Cape.

Light drizzle is expected across the Ermelo region in Mpumalanga and the Tzaneen region in Limpopo.


Minimum temperatures are expected to cool across the northern and central parts of the country, with warmer temperatures expected along the East Coast and the West Coast, with the coastline experiencing cold conditions.

The coldest place in South Africa is expected to be Graaff-Reinet in the Eastern Cape, dropping to a below-freezing -1°C.

Maximum temperatures are expected to be moderate across most of the country with cool temperatures for Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Limpopo. Warm temperatures will be experienced along the coastline, including the Eastern Cape and the Western Cape.

The hottest places in South Africa are expected to be Oudtshoorn and Worcester in the Western Cape, reaching a high of 31°C.

Pretoria is expected to experience a maximum of 20°C, while Johannesburg is expected to have a high of 18°C. A high of 21°C is predicted for Bloemfontein.

Along the coastal regions, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth will both reach a high of 27°C while Durban will reach 23°C.
