Wednesday's weather: Cold morning conditions and frost over the Free State

Frost is expected in places over the southern Free State, accompanied by cold minimum temperatures as a result of a cold front passing through the south of the country on Wednesday.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the northern interior of the Northern Cape, as provided by the South African Weather Service.

Temperatures along the coast are expected to be warm.

Mpumalanga will be cloudy in the east at first with morning fog and a chance of drizzle along the escarpment. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and cool but warm in places in the northeast. Isolated afternoon thundershowers are expected in the highveld areas.

The Free State is expected to be cloudy over the extreme east at first with morning fog patches. Otherwise, it will be fine and cool, becoming partly cloudy in the north and north-eastern parts. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in places.

Morning mist is expected along the coast of the Northern Cape where it will be cool. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm, becoming fine from the west. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong.

It will be cloudy along the south coast of the Western Cape at first. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and cool to warm in places over the West Coast region. It will be fine in the west. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong. The expected UVB sunburn index will be very high.

The Eastern Cape is expected to be cloudy with mist in places in the south east at first. Isolated rain and showers are expected in places south of the escarpment. Otherwise, it will be fine and cool. The wind along the coast will be light.

It will be partly cloudy to cloudy and cool in KwaZulu-Natal. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate. The expected UVB sunburn index will be moderate.
