Wednesday's weather: Light showers, rain across the eastern half of SA

Light showers and rain accompanied by warm to hot conditions can be expected in places over the eastern half of the country on Wednesday.

Severe thunderstorms are expected over the western and northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal and the eastern parts of Mpumalanga.

The temperature along the coast is expected to be cool to warm, according to the South African Weather Service.

Gauteng is expected to be cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers in the morning and again from the afternoon. It will be warm in the north.

Mpumalanga will be cloudy with morning fog patches along the escarpment. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and cool to warm but hot in the Lowveld with scattered showers and thundershowers.

It will be cloudy with morning fog patches in the east of Limpopo. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and hot but very hot in the Limpopo valley. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected, but scattered in the south-western Bushveld.

The North West is expected to be partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the west.

It is expected to be cloudy in the east of the Free State. Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected. Otherwise, it will partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Morning fog patches are expected along the coast of the Northern Cape. Otherwise, it will be fine and warm in the west but partly cloudy and hot in places in the east with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north east.

The Western Cape is expected to be cloudy to partly cloudy and cool to warm along the south coast and adjacent interior in the morning. Otherwise, it will be fine and warm but hot in places in the west.

The Eastern Cape will be partly cloudy and cool but warm in the north west. Isolated showers and rain are expected in the east while isolated thundershowers are expected in the north. 

Morning fog patches are expected over the interior of KwaZulu-Natal. Otherwise, it will be cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers.
