Cape Town - A woman was arrested on Tuesday morning while she was allegedly paying a hitman to kill her husband, Western Cape police said.

She was caught during a sting operation while allegedly handing an undisclosed amount of cash to a man in the parking lot of the Lansdowne railway station, Captain FC van Wyk said.

Detectives and members of the Manenberg serious and violent crimes investigation unit received information that she was allegedly conspiring to commit murder.

The 44-year-old woman from Kenilworth was arrested around 10:00.

She was expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court on Thursday on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.
