Durban – A woman was bitten by a snake in Appelsbosch, KwaZulu-Natal, on Friday, but only realised it much later when paramedics saw puncture marks in her ankle.

“She indicated that earlier the day she felt a sudden pain in her ankle, but did not seek medical attention,” ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said.

“Paramedics found two puncture wounds near her ankle with severe swelling around the ankle and leg.”

The 36-year-old woman was taken to Midlands Medical Centre. It was not known what type of snake bit her as she did not see it.
