Durban – A mother has given birth to a baby on the M25 in Durban, paramedic services said.

Crisis Medical spokesperson Neil Powell said paramedics were flagged down by a stationary vehicle while travelling south bound on the M25 shortly before 20:00 on Friday.

"On further investigation, paramedics found that a female of 23 years was in labour and was in the process of giving birth. Crisis Medical paramedics assisted in the delivery of the baby, a beautiful boy who appears in good health and vitally stable.

"Both mother and newborn were transported to hospital where they would receive further care."
