Woman goes into labour in KZN pharmacy

Johannesburg – A woman went into labour in a pharmacy in Hillcrest in eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal on New Year’s Eve.

According to ER24, medics were called to the scene.

"On arrival, they [medics] found nurses from the pharmacy keeping the woman, believed to be 26 years of age, calm," Chitra Bodasing said.

Medics assessed the woman and then put her in the ambulance to be transported to hospital.

While en route to hospital however paramedics had to stop the ambulance to deliver the baby.

They stopped on the N3 just before the Mariannhill Toll Plaza, towards Pinetown.

The mother and the baby were taken to hospital after the delivery, and are reportedly fine.
