Woman killed in Cape Town house fire

Cape Town - A woman was killed and two people are fighting for their lives following an early morning house fire in Cape Town on Monday.

Fire services spokesperson Liezl Moodie said firefighters arrived at the Cornflower Street, Lentegeur house at 05:30 and spent just under one hour extinguishing the blaze.

"A man, a woman and a minor suffered quite serious smoke inhalation. The woman was later declared deceased and the man and the child are at the Mitchells Plain District Hospital," she said.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Police are investigating.
