Cape Town - A 48-year-old Eastern Cape woman has been raped in her home by a supposed good Samaritan, police said on Saturday.

The woman had been at a bar on Wednesday night in the Dutywa area and because it was late, the man offered to escort her home, said Captain Jackson Manatha.

But instead of leaving her safely once she got inside her house, he attacked her and raped her in her kitchen. Nobody else was home to help her.

She survived the attack and reported it to police and he was traced and arrested on Friday.

He will appear in the Dutywa Magistrate's Court on Monday.
