Woman seriously injured as arm gets caught in pasta-making machine

Durban - A woman was seriously injured on Friday after her arm got caught in a machine at a restaurant in Westville KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.

ER24 spokeperson Russel Meiring said paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and were immediately ushered into the kitchen.

"A woman was found with her arm crushed in what was thought to be a pasta-making machine," Meiring said.

Paramedics treated the patient, while rescue services had to use special tools to carefully break the machine apart.

He said paramedics were able to free the woman’s arm, but found that she had sustained severe injuries to her hand and arm.

The patient was treated for her injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions. 

The woman was transported to hospital for urgent treatment.
