Cape Town – A woman was shot on Tuesday morning in an attempted robbery on the corner of Buitengracht and Bloem streets, Cape Town, Western Cape police confirmed. 

While seated in her vehicle, the woman was approached by a male suspect who demanded her belongings, before shooting her, Western Cape police spokesperson Andrè Traut said. 

The incident occurred at 06:22. The woman was taken to a hospital for medical attention.

Following the shooting, the man fled the scene and an arrest is yet to be made. 

Police are investigating a case of attempted murder and robbery, Traut said.
