Durban - A woman survived after she fell from a two-storey building in Margate on Saturday, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said paramedics and fire services arrived and found the woman lying on the grass behind an electric fence with no access route.

“One of the Netcare 911 paramedics placed fire jackets over the fence and managed to clamber over the fence to get to the injured female,” Botha said.

He said after the seriously injured patient was treated, they immobilised her in a “stokes” basket and hoist her back up into the residence with the assistance of the Margate fire services.

The patient was transported to a hospital in Port Shepstone.

She is under Netcare911 advanced life support.
