Durban - A woman and a child were killed when they were hit by a tipper truck in Tongaat's central business district, north of Durban, on Thursday morning.

IPSS Medical spokesperson Paul Herbst said the two women had been attempting to cross the main road and had run into the path of the earthmover.

"The females, aged approximately 45 and 15 years old, allegedly crossed in front of a vehicle and into the path of a tip truck travelling north near the Tongaat taxi rank," he said.

"Both victims were killed on impact. IPSS Medical Rescue’s advanced life support paramedic declared both victims on arrival at the scene," Herbst added.
