Pretoria - Convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius will hear his fate when sentencing proceedings commence on June 13.

The former Paralympic star appeared briefly in the High Court in Pretoria on Monday, while a group of his supporters gathered outside.

His counsel placed on record that an electronic tracking device designed to monitor his movement was faulty and had been replaced three times.

The device had apparently recorded movement when he had not done so.

State advocate Gerrie Nel said that they were ready to proceed in June and that he was willing to come to court on a public holiday if necessary.

Sentencing proceedings were set down for from June 13 - June 17.

The Constitutional Court previously dismissed Pistorius's application for leave to appeal his conviction, and he now faces a minimum sentence of 15 years, unless he can provide substantial and compelling reasons to deviate from this prescribed sentence.

Pistorius served one-sixth of his five-year sentence in prison and was released in October to serve the remainder under correctional supervision.

He shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, insisting he had mistaken her for an intruder.
