1km queue for Mangaung vehicle clearance

2012-12-15 14:51

Bloemfontein - Buses, service provider trucks, ministers' vehicles, delegates and media queued at the Tempe Military Base in Bloemfontein to get their vehicle security clearance on Saturday.

The vehicle queue was approximately a kilometre long.

All vehicles entering the University of the Free State, where the ANC was holding its national conference, had to be processed at the military base before entering the campus.

"Ke mathata fela (It's a big problem)," said one of the delegates queuing in his car.

Each car was searched before being issued a sticker and escorted to the campus by police.

Another motorist said: "This is just a waste of time."

Motorists got out of their cars, stretched their legs and played music to keep themselves entertained.

All entrances to the university had restricted access and traffic on Nelson Mandela Drive, leading to the main entrance, was controlled by traffic police.

When a vehicle leaves the campus, the sticker is removed and the vehicle would have to be processed again on re-entry.

The African National Congress's national conference starts on Sunday.

A friend told me a few hours ago that is TOTAL chaos!!! She said the traffic doesnt even move. They waited 6 hours to get through town to the vet. People are leaving their vehicles and walking!!!

      beverly.young3 - 2012-12-15 15:12

Oh Oh and let alone that 'toilet' facilities are errr.....not provided for anywhere. On the other hand, the smouses are out in full force selling madly. :)

      kortbroek.duplessis - 2012-12-15 16:17

Well no surpise we all know that cAncer couldn't organise a foul up in a brewery. Didn't expect anything else but chaos. But the best is yet to come hehehehe.

  • wesselo1 - 2012-12-15 15:24

Are they using a private security company to do the vehicle clearance or employing soldiers part time. They DID say that the ANC is paying for the conference, and will not be using state recources, and surely the ANC wont lie

      colin.dovey - 2012-12-15 17:09

The tents they have put up come from China - and they cost R15 million each!

  • john.m.mcdowall - 2012-12-15 15:42

What is the matter with these useless f88ks who think they are so righteous and important that everyone needs 'clearance; to be around them. Their arrogance has now become pathetic beyond belief. Maybe some one in their right mind will manage to muster a bomb right in the middle of them. Now that would be justice.

      lee.brand.73 - 2012-12-15 16:56

Who would waste their money on a bomb?

John, Hint of the ol' boeremag ideology in your comment. If you bother to flikker those eyelids you would see that this is common place most countries, just here in RSA it has morphed into a Witch-craft ceremony. I am sure these facts will not be comprehended as this would dilute your tainted perspective in life.

You not the only one. Not one in the ANC would be missed by the public at large if they died tomorrow.

      zapadela.tistarocha - 2012-12-15 16:47

So Sheik, You are anti ANC ??? You wish death to all ANC supporters ??? Does this include their Families as well ??? It is exactly this type of Militant thinking by some Extremist that continues to destabilize the Middle-East.

They couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag. Couldn't find their arses with both hands. Are about as useful as a chocolate teapot or an ashtray on a motorbike.

Members of staff at the UFS were stopped at the gates yesterday and their vehicles searched. No state resources beging used? Wonder what are all the Caspirs and SAPD vehicles doing on campus.

      zapadela.tistarocha - 2012-12-15 17:08

      Keeping the locals pinned down.....

      ilse.crowther - 2012-12-15 19:08

@ Zapadela. I'm sure that's why because the locals are seriously pi$$ed at the frivolous spending taking place while not far away from the campus their most loyal voters are living in dire circumstances. So yes the luxurious leather couches that were delivered for them to sit and relax on could have fed and educate children

      zapadela.tistarocha - 2012-12-15 19:18

Get over these issues as it is normal procedure in Democracies, It you not take note of the Fedocracy's Hollywood style elections just a Month ago ???

So that's what they meant when they said there wouldn't be havoc. Not that they weren't expecting it, they are just prepared for it. 4500 people are going to decide the fate of 50 million people. just great!

      zapadela.tistarocha - 2012-12-15 18:30

Whilst the British lay in the grass like Snakes , I suppose.

      douglas.reid.921 - 2012-12-15 19:18

Wrong, the british would get their nice red uniforms dirty in the grass. They simply lined up and made perfect targets.
