ANC: KZN tops in service delivery

Johannesburg - Five KwaZulu-Natal municipalities received clean audit reports, the ANC said on Tuesday.

"This is a sign of positive financial management and good governance," the party's provincial secretary Sihle Zikalala said.

He said it was an indication the province was a shining example of excellent service delivery in the country.

Zikalala said that according to the report by Auditor General Terence Nombembe, five of the 13 municipalities that received clean audits in the country were in KwaZulu-Natal.

Most municipalities that received unqualified audits were also in the province.

"The ANC calls on the MEC of Co-operative Governance Nomusa Dube to immediately arrest the concerning trend of irregular expenditure which seems to be on the rise in some of our municipalities," he said.

The ANC said it intended working with all affected parties to ensure better management of resources in municipalities.

If you go to the suburbs, you will realize that services are being delivered and if you go to the rural areas the first thing you would notice is the lack of service delivery which has been a guideline since apartheid.which just shows keep the taxpayer happy and the underpaid underpaid(this way our promises at election can affect the majority of underpaid workers telling them that together we can do more whilst getting paid the least).but congratulations on your achievement.

Must be the area around Nklandla, JZ building his own village, so that when he "retires" he can start playing king (i hope King Goodwill is ready for this). If the people want houses and everything else that goes with it that is the place to go to - it has already cost the TAXPAYER R65million. I dare them to name those places that received clean audits, which books were cooked and really who didn't give a rats ar*e.

The headline is misleading and is very poor jounalism. It mentions Service delivery, but the article is about clean audit reports. The 2 issues are not related !

Clean audits?Somebody is pulling wool over our eyes,in Sisonke top ANC leaders their friends and families get the best service delivery through their companies(tenders galore)while the poor majority suffers poverty and empty promises.Corruption is the order of things in all five municipalities. The house built by the Sisonke mayor tells a long story about lost money in the municipality, think of some other trick Zikalala.

What a joke. If real audits were done not one municipality would get a clean audit
