ANC 'is a beacon for the world'

2012-01-08 07:36

London - British Prime Minister David Cameron on Sunday hailed South Africa's ruling ANC as a "beacon for the world" in fighting discrimination and oppression as the party celebrated its centenary.

"On behalf of the British people, I want to congratulate you and everyone involved with the African National Congress on this very special anniversary," wrote Cameron in a letter to South African President and ANC leader Jacob Zuma.

"The African National Congress has been a beacon for the world in the fight against discrimination and the struggle for freedom from oppression - it stood up for the rights of all South Africans."

"It is incredible to see the changes in South Africa that the ANC has helped to bring about," he added.

As well as celebrating the legacy of its first 100 years, the ANC should be "looking forward to the challenges of the next," said the Conservative premier.

The second day of the centenary celebrations in South Africa on Saturday featured drums and the ritual slaughter of a bull before a gala dinner attended by more than a dozen African leaders.

Nothing worse than a political correct idiot...

      SubGenius - 2012-01-08 07:57

David Cameron is following the NWO agenda, the west installed the puppet Marxist ANC regime in order to get South Africas mineral revenue (recently valued at $2.5 Trillion) out of the country at a much cheaper rate than under the white government. Of course he will sing their praises, irrespective of South Africa being placed on level 6 on the international Genocide Watch list.

      Yar - 2012-01-08 08:01

@WaySubGenius Conspiracy theories are complete waste of time. Wake up to reality.

      Gollum - 2012-01-08 08:10

      Maybe he means "Warning Beacon"

      Beetroot - 2012-01-08 08:28

      Squeegee - 2012-01-08 08:33

      Misinformed twat!

      Dirk - 2012-01-08 08:34

Cameron must have been under the influence of something. He could not have uttered that rubbish while sober.

      Jenny - 2012-01-08 08:45

So says David Cameron as England begins its slide into the third world.

      Silver - 2012-01-08 08:52

Just goes to show, you whisper crap into a liberal’s ear long enough he will just about believe, do and say anything.

      Squeegee - 2012-01-08 09:04

How do we take anything he says in future seriously? If he gets this so wrong, how badly informed is he when it comes to other world issues?

      Burtfred - 2012-01-08 09:17

This is the same party that dictated to it's members of parliament no less, which way they must vote on the information bill. Anyone of their MP's who voted against the bill or declined to vote is now in the party poo. They were reminded by their idiotic communist whip that they were in parliament to "represent the party" - f**k the voters who placed them in parliament. And now Mothlanthe tells ordinary party members to vote with their conscience in their provincial elections. The ANC is a ball of inept confusion, wrapped up in a thick layer of corruption, decorated with ribbons and bells made of glittering promises.

      John - 2012-01-08 09:58

Wasn't it David Cameron who said in the house that Multiculturalism wasn't working in the UK and Europe. Virtually agreeing to Enoch Powell's ideas. Most poms I know wished that they could chuck being politically correct out the door.

      Piet - 2012-01-08 10:15

Now ,I have lost all respect for him ... Stuped not to say anything about the most corrupted regime ever.....Must have tunnel vision..Or was he and Showahead smoking pot together.??

      Nicholas - 2012-01-08 10:25

Britain currently finds itself in a highly sensitive racial environment thanks mainly to their own "we are still so sorry" weak immigration laws. This is compounded by a very militant left wing press always on the look out for a juicy story. David Cameron is cornered by these unpleasant circumstances, so is left with no option than to release his weak, out of date and Politically Correct message to the ANC

      Mutsila - 2012-01-08 10:47

he is not racist like u

      Xenswim1 - 2012-01-08 10:54

want to know why Cammeron thinks the ANc is so great. Seems to me that the ANC and the British government think the same.

      Paul - 2012-01-08 11:36

Yeah, Mr David Cameron of No. 10 Downing Street, London -- the capital of Pakistan.

      pisciotta - 2012-01-08 18:55

Tian, Agreed. The world owes S. Africa an apology for forcing democracy upon a country whose majority was not ready to accept responsibility. Democracy came upon S. Africa in haste Pressure from the outside without any forethought. And all the while the decent people of S. Africa suffer because of the ill-prepared majority who are now in power.

      John - 2012-01-08 23:01

The ANC is a beacon to the world of Crimminals, Drugdealers, and Genociders! ANC=Association of National Criminals, Abortion Murder Genocide, killing South Africans and destroying South Africa since 1957!

      John - 2012-01-08 23:10

I was suspicious that the British Foreign Office was remote controlled by the KGB. I had the confirmation when the Pope visited the UK. The Barbarian Communist Savage colors came out to be seen by all!

      Sharkshoot - 2012-01-09 11:24

Even the Brits think Cameron is a moron. Apparently he also has problems pronouncing the words in his speeches...and he's english speaking!!

      Mattewis - 2012-01-09 12:23

I always thought a beacon was supposed to radiate light and not emit smell!

      NrGx - 2012-01-09 13:55

      RE - 2012-01-09 18:43

and my a$$ is a beacon for the whole retarded anc squad.

      Eugene - 2012-02-04 23:11

@Yar, It would be nice, if those were just "theories".

  • spartanx93 - 2012-01-08 07:55

Cameron you better take a harder look at what your former colony has become! Stop lying to yourself..... We all know that the ANC is an incompetent bunch of morons taking SA on a path of destruction!

      Francois - 2012-01-08 08:44

And Cameron has just lost the right to ever complain about Zimbabwe again as Mbeki and Mothlanthe and Zuma are condoning what is happening there and Mantashe wants to help Bob. This is surely an excellent example of being a beacon for the world in the fight against discrimination and the struggle for freedom from oppression. Go David, Bob and Zuma and Bob, David is on your side!

      Mutsila - 2012-01-08 10:51

      apartheid spokesman

      John - 2012-01-08 11:33

Does anyone remember when Robert Mugabe was inaugurated in Rhodesia. Lord Soams and Bonnie wee Prince charlie made almost the same statement as Cameron on the night. "he Zimgabe is the new shining light of Zim, he and his people have defeated enslavement by the whites" Check it out today this same bunch of English do good'ers are sanctioning the $hit out of their beloved shining light because they realize what a tosser they put into power. Bugger off back to England David and sort your own crap out. He also never studied History the pri+k, in the Anglo - Boar war his politically correct army put thousands of blacks into concentration camps and literally starved them to death.

      mashavha - 2012-01-08 12:18

Spartan u r out of order, the apartheid regime was also corrupt so dont come with ur misinformed theories ANC will rule like it or not,get used to it or take the next flight to New Zealand idiot

      spartanx93 - 2012-01-08 13:17

@Mashavha - the only thing out of order is your brain for being so naive.

      Denny - 2012-01-08 14:23

@ThaiJohn Good points regarding Zimbabwe. It reminds me that the worst thing about Ian Smith was that he was right. The Brits also decimated a large chunk of the Afrikaner population through scorched earth/concentration camps. On a lighter note - I wasn't aware of the Porcine War the British were involved in :p Now, where is my bacon?

      George - 2012-01-08 16:04

Well Mr Cameron Stop talking IDIOT, and import a couple of million of them to your country It will save SA, the country that your country sold down the river

      Clive - 2012-01-09 09:18

@Mashavha: Oh, so because the Nat govt was corrupt, that makes it acceptable for the ANC to be likewise. I thought they promised us something better. The truth, of course, is that the Nats were rank amateurs compared to this lot.

  • Bruce - 2012-01-08 08:01

of course Mr Cameron thinks the ANC is great, his country has benifited from the immigration of thousands of highly qualified South African doctors, enigineers, nurses, teachers and numerous other qualified (tax paying) people. he was probably rolling on the floor laughing when he wrote the letter.

  • herman.brummer - 2012-01-08 08:02

ANC has done some good, but that seems to have been mostly in the past, These days they seem more like former oppressors.

      Jerhone - 2012-01-08 12:59

to Mashava go back to school or get your money back, apartheit legislation only came in 1948 they built quality roads bridges hospitals etc. which your ANC has not improved on but let go to wreck and ruin, i'm not praising the apartheid goverment they were also a*seholes and they have infiltrated your ANC who you should really say and i quote have f*cked up this countries infrastucture in 17 short years

      spartanx93 - 2012-01-08 13:23

Jerhone, you cannot argue with an idiot. Unfortunately the fool mashavha has been pre programmed to follow ANC propaganda.

      Lionel - 2012-01-09 11:07

@jerhone: you're a moron; 1948 wasn't the beginning of racial prejudice and exploitation in this country. I suppose the only history you know is the great trek...

  • Eduard - 2012-01-08 08:03

Is Cameron high??? Making such remote statements..... The world is all in a changing phase now, young presidents across the world (I am not saying it is a good thing, the young ones are a bit naive....the old ones are in charge of countries which are going to the dogs) Actually the West/ East want "sleepy" order for them to raid SA & Africa of wealth, resources, skills......natural beauty...and the list goes on.

  • Chum Scrubber - 2012-01-08 08:04

I agree it, it "was" (not "is") a beacon of hope. I think a lot of us were positive when they first took over, but a few years later things are very different. Currently they are very dissapointing - I think thats what Cameron is saying when he refers to "future challenges". Just being politically correct.

  • Herman - 2012-01-08 08:04

What does this spineless idiot know about SA?

  • Larry - 2012-01-08 08:08

Back slapping and blowing smoke up each others @rse.

  • Joe - 2012-01-08 08:17

"ANC fights discrimination"? Really? They did at one stage when it was necessary, but unfortunately now they're still propogating it. They've legalized it and written it into our constitution - our constitution expressly and explicitly ALLOWS DISCRIMINATION against "previously advantaged" individuals. How deluded is this pompous Brit?

  • Ian - 2012-01-08 08:18

why dont you come live here for a while Mr Cameron, try going to the corner shop for a loaf of bread without getting mugged or worrying if your kids are safe in school or college or wondering if its safe for your son to his girlfriends house on a bike without get knocked over by a blue light mec, get through that for starters and then we will talk, oh before I forget do your farmers ther ein england get murdered on a daily basis, how I would love to pose these questions to you, moron

      mthabisi.mpofu - 2012-01-08 10:10

bloody ignoramus alarmist, only an imbecile spews such crass bile, yes the country has it's challenges, sure case, the ANC is no saint party, quite a lot of deadwood that should not be in positions of leadership & authority, but by the same token a lot of has been made on the economic, financial & social front but a miscreant like you deliberately turns a blind eye, there are worse & corrupt parties in the so-cal;led developed world,SA as an economy has fared far much better than them, but no,, the Ians of the whinging & mourning world would never admit to it,GET A LIFE buddy, learn to change with change, this is a colourful world, maybe in planet they can accomodate yout ilks & likes!!!!

      Ian - 2012-01-08 14:02

      Eduard - 2012-01-08 15:53

@ still don't get it!!!! Dont compare yourself to other pig, that only makes you one as well Why take copper if you can get gold (simple terms, why settle for 4th when you can get 1st place?) There is no problem with the change, the problem is the change is short term and only for a select few. What about your children? That is why we complain, because some of us "look into the crystal ball" and the future (for all SA citizens under the current conditions) is heading for a train smash, something like what is happening in the Arab world. Let us work together, not against each other

  • Beetroot - 2012-01-08 08:26

Typical politically correct idiot with zero background or understanding of the reality of South African politics today. Zuma and his row of five wives standing in the gravy que with the pap bowls in their hands. David Cameron was discussing how nice the weather is. Jolly good show old chap!

  • amanda.keartland - 2012-01-08 08:28

This is fresh seeing that oppression and slavery was a result of British imperialism... Funny that ANC had to be formed prior to 1948?? oops they have their oppressors and/or their dates wrong?? I wonder if the youth of today ever question our history...

      Juan - 2012-01-08 10:13

It was the British government which introduced and praticed the idea of apartheid in South Africe long before it became government policy. So this is real rich coming from them

Just another racist european blowing smoke up a black man's a$$. If only the rest of the world would tell it like it is and not kowtow to their own racist perceptions: if it is black, it is okay to be sub-standard. This is where all of our problems begin. Once the europeans start to treat the black African as an equal and judge him according to world standards, the truth shall see the light.

  • Wayne - 2012-01-08 08:36

Good grief? "beacon for the world in fighting discrimination" hahahahaha - Have they now already forgotten about the dalai lama incident? Sure we have made some headway in the last 18 years but things are not wonderful back home. Unfortunately corruption & fraud are the two of the most rampant used skills when it comes to the ANC.

      manningi1 - 2012-01-08 10:30

We've also gone backward more than any headway made!

  • Pur - 2012-01-08 08:37

Spot on! Must be seen saying the right things, even if they are lies.

  • gcshrimpton - 2012-01-08 08:37

Maggie Thatcher was correct in saying a terrorist is a terrorist.

      SubGenius - 2012-01-08 09:03

Thatcher refused to place sanctions on apartheid RSA, knowing full well what would happen if the Marxists took over. Times change, and politics makes for strange bed-fellows. Who woulda thought a Tory PM would be singing the Marxist's praises. This world is upside down. Next thing Netanyahu will be hailing Hizbollah as a beacon of democracy and reason.

      Matthew - 2012-01-09 14:24

Thatcher was the greatest PM we had (yes, I'm a Brit, although definitely not of the liberal persuasion). She took out Argentina when they invaded sovereign British territory in the Falklands, and destroyed the power of the bloody unions, destroying that twat Scargill in the process. Please look up the definition of 'neocon' and I think you will find it has everything to do with the American Zionist lobby, and absolutely FA to do with 1970's - 80's UK politics.

  • Burtfred - 2012-01-08 08:39

Pompous, ill-informed twit. The ANC "beacon" is flashing bright communist red - warning the world of corruption, cronyism, stifling of free speech, oppression of opposition and a party that that has become like the monster Hydra. Its heads are attacking each other and common people are being trampled by its writhing. Mr Cameron, you and your colleagues don't drive around London with flashing blue lights - the British public would have you fired without hesitation.

  • stiaan.schoeman - 2012-01-08 08:40

What a joke... Why not also speak about the negative stuff in your letter David? Specifically the corruption... and changing of our constitution to get away with it easier.

  • Eugene - 2012-01-08 09:00

What a joke, David Cameron despised the ANC (and probably still does). Margaret Thatcher once said "anybody who thinks the ANC can rule South Africa is living in cloud cuckoo land". She was virtually never wrong and definitely not with that quote. But note that DC doesn't congratulate them on their record as a governing party or delivering on promises, because he knows the truth . . .

Really? then why do I feel so disenfranchised, and why am I discriminated against in so many way now as a white male? The ANC has let us down seriously in terms of non-racialism on so many fronts. I write this as a former supporter. And don't come with this "you had your day white man" bull, so of us never did that thing.

"It is incredible to see the changes in South Africa that the ANC has helped to bring about," ok MR PRIME MINISTER.. come over here and spend a bit of time with the poor & destitute for a week and then spend another week or so living in the lap of luxury that the other half of the scale enjoy. Sorry to Say it but the ANC are committing societal rape against their own.!! Denial must be a river in egypt!!

I would take whatever Cameron has to say with a pinch of salt. Cameron is regarded as Britons answer to that idiot Bush, in fact he is accused of making Bush appear intelligent. Of course he has to congratulate the ANC on 1 hundred years of struggle, which should only be 80 years of struggle and 20 years of victorious partying. Lets be honest, South Africa is better off due to the ANC, but we could have become the greatest economical power of the Southern Hemisphere. Camaron's letter lip service from a political idiot. Bad is the ANC's need, (like many South African's) for foreign endorsement, it shows immaturity and a lack of self esteem. This is obviously due to the ANC's continuos failure to deliver good governance to all South Africans, keeping their electorate on a minimal economical growth path, which deepens economical slavery to the likes of the IMF and previous colonial powers. The ANC should understand that the self serving International community needs Africa more than we need them. The unification of all South Africans under the New Flag, has the potential to grow the South African economical pie throughout Africa and the rest of the world, a scenario that the rich economic powers do not want to see as this will bring about a price increase for African resources. It is time that the ANC accepts the lost white tribe of Africa, show greater maturity because the new struggle for all South Africa's is overcoming our historical legacy which keeps us divided.
