ANC leadership change inevitable - ANCYL

2012-06-05 17:32

Pretoria - The ANC leadership will change at Mangaung in December, ANC Youth League deputy president Ronald Lamola said on Tuesday.

"Change in leadership at Mangaung is inevitable," he told reporters in Centurion, Pretoria.

He was referring to the African National Congress's elective conference to be held in Mangaung in the Free State, in December.

Current ANC president Jacob Zuma wants to be elected for another term while the Youth League is said to prefer his deputy, Kgalema Motlanthe.

"The ANC Youth League is going to influence the policy conference of the ANC," Lamola said.

The League reaffirmed that it considered expelled leader Julius Malema to still be its president.

ANCYL spokesperson Magdalene Moonasamy said the league would respect the internal processes of the ANC but "we reaffirm our president remains our president".

Pule Mabe, whom the ANCYL dismissed from his position as treasurer general last month, had not been reinstated, Lamola said.

It had been reported that Mabe was reinstated after ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe intervened.

Lamola said the ANC had written to the league with recommendations on how to deal with Mabe.

History repeating itself. I've heard this song and dance before. 'whaa whaa whaa mbeki needs to go and zuma is our man.' now it's 'whaa whaa whaa zuma must go and Motlante is our man. in 5 years time it'll be whaa whaa whaa Motlante must go etc etc. and it'll continue into oblivion

      Sharon - 2012-06-05 19:35

They like the struggle. Now they are struggling with each other. Viva the struggle viva.

  • mncedisi.budaza - 2012-06-05 18:06

Its a pity because u guys u created this and I hope that its lesson to every organisation.leaders should be elected not on pity bt on the strength, dedication, intellegency. I hope that not only YL have learnt by south african as well.

      Henk - 2012-06-05 18:08

      that bunch learn?

  • Vic - 2012-06-05 18:15

Why doesn't the ANC have the balls to disband ANCYL, and start afresh with competent, intellegent people? They are in such diseray, and not sure who's in and who's out!

      John - 2012-06-05 18:27

Why? Easy - they command around 6M youth votes whom were all promised land and wealth. They disband ANCYL and ANCYL will likely give their votes to COPE out of spite.

      Sharon - 2012-06-05 19:36

there are no competent intelligent people who want to join the anc, does that answer your question vic?

      Vic - 2012-06-05 20:52

Sharon, I just thought there might be a glimmer of hope, but on second thoughts, maybe they should remain a shambles.

  • Barend - 2012-06-05 18:23

Everything within the ANC has come to a complete standstill because of this Mangaung. I would just love to see some CCTV footage of the offices in the Union buildings. I really feel for those people that still live in makeshift houses with no real future except for turning to crime. This ANC is dividing this once proud nation and they do this by being at the helm of a resourceful ship with many options available to them but fail to lay a solid foundation for us all to work on. They do not deserve what they have been entrusted with and neither do the people. Peace everyone and remember vote smart nè.

  • lerato.kay.3 - 2012-06-05 18:25

ANCYL is as Irrelevant as Afriforum, AWB and Goodman gallery

      TSOTSI Smilification - 2012-06-05 18:27

Lerato! Just like you are irrelevant to us!

  • maseratifittipaldi - 2012-06-05 18:27

Motlanthe?? And the rest of us must be satisfied with that? What if the majority of South Africans don't even want a president from the ANC? What if we want one that belongs to no party?

      Stewart Croucamp - 2012-06-05 19:00

      Good thinking Ron.

      Sharon - 2012-06-05 19:39

you are giving the masses more credit than they are worth

  • georgebrightons - 2012-06-05 18:29

June is youth month! Mangaung conference is around the corner. Your candidate Montlhantle will be the next President. Why don't you address issues affecting youths of this country I.e unemployment, education, poverty and misery, crime, murder, alcohol and drug abuse. Time for attention seeking must come to an end. Please don't insult the elders!

      TSOTSI Smilification - 2012-06-05 18:33

The elders and the their young ones are all ANC CONDOM COMRADES! We should throw them away! AND no... in this instance we should not recycle!

      Andrew - 2012-06-05 18:53

I can't agree with you more George. I think the majority of the youth are so sick of unemployment that they would do anything just to get a stable buck each month. But with leaders like we have in this country to look up to, they turn into worthless drug and alcohol abusing thugs which rather steal and murder for money than work for it. Nelson Mandela said that the youth must invest in education, and with good education you'll get good jobs and business which would bring the crime rate down. By good education I don’t mean like in PE where there’s no teachers to teach and schools without electricity. Give the youth free education from proper schooling bodies and then thing would turn for the better.

      Marco - 2012-06-06 08:37

mr brightons is right ,we must not insult the elders ,so stop saying that the youth league isnt cool

  • Rob - 2012-06-05 18:31

It would be wonderful if the leadership canged to competent and effective people, but that is probably asking for a miracle, and I don't believe in those!

      raymond.abrahamse - 2012-06-05 21:11

The Biggest problem is that, there are no Competent, effective and honest people to take over the leadership.

  • Mike Purchase - 2012-06-05 18:34

Lerato you a bit insecure i wonder why?

      lerato.kay.3 - 2012-06-05 18:39

Because expropriation is taking forever baas!

      Sharon - 2012-06-05 19:41

looked in the mirror this morning did you lerato

  • nigel.vanysendyk - 2012-06-05 18:38

  • eduardhomes - 2012-06-05 18:39

  • Melusi - 2012-06-05 19:04

      Nicolaas - 2012-06-05 20:56

@Melusi, they can't even follow, not too mention lead!

  • nicholas.mfanawakhe - 2012-06-05 19:24

Lamola you are a small boy, ANC leadership won't change.Just do youself a favour and join COPE as Malema will be doing that in the next 2 weeks, Your Ankel Lekota needs you.

  • brendaninsa - 2012-06-05 19:26

  • roi.boss1 - 2012-06-05 19:30

  • tnemalumane - 2012-06-05 19:36

  • leko.dada1 - 2012-06-05 19:42

Ultimate freedom is within reach! Ancyl n Numsa/Cosatu must take over leadership from Anc...

      Nicolaas - 2012-06-05 21:00

@DOMDOM1, Ultimate hunger and starvation is within reach. Zille must take over leadership/presidency of South Africa.

  • Sharon - 2012-06-05 19:50

this lamola is really dark,do you think he is from here or up north

      Bomb - 2012-06-05 20:29

they are all historically from up north......they stole the land long before the white induna came from the sea....

      Ted - 2012-06-05 21:08

Stupid question. He is a citizen. You are definitely confused about your own identity. Grow up. I think you appear in the Nandos ad too.

  • Hano Muller - 2012-06-05 20:12

If the ancyl could do anything they wouldve by now , the only thing constant is change lets just hope the changes that are coming are for the better for all .

  • mzondistanley - 2012-06-19 19:51

ANCYL, You are indiciplined not only to your Parents but in your own Heads you never take No!! for and answer !! You dealt the way you did with Mbeki but now you may have to ask yourselves as to wheather you belong to any leadership or you are leaderless!! A successfull Army is always under one commander!! If you want to campain for the top Job of the Country just know that you destroying your CVs and no one will be sorry to see your BACKL!!! Where you your Freedom stops that is where mine begins !! Let us learn to live together as one Nation!! with one Commander at a time, Net work with other Youth League Bodies in other Political bodies!!! People of South South Africa are more powerfull than one person or one Political party!!

  • mzondistanley - 2012-06-25 11:45

The Whole ANC and especially Alliance partners should know that when people talk about Service delivery, they are demanding Action from them as The Ruling Elite elected and entrusted to do so in the Interest of the Masses not to talk as if you belong to an outside Political organisation. In this case i mean the issue focusing the minds of the masses is the WHOLE ANC especially top Governance which influence Government day to day activities that affect the Lives of South Africans, by Evaluating the ways and means of Best serving the Common Man in the Villages and Country side!! It is One thing to Rule and quite another to be Ruled!!!! The Deputy President is just Rocking the Boat by asking too many Questions to the Media yet he is in a Ruling Family!! This helps to Confuse ANC suporters instead of ANC being a Source of Answers, Better comment after the Policy Conference is Over!! The timing of the Deputy President is not Representative of the Trust invested in Him!! On a serious note, Economic Policy Guide Lines aughtb to be Rvisited every Five years to see i they really serving the Purpose meant to Serve!! Democracy is a Collective Responsibility and How can a Deputy President Pretend not to know that There is separation between Political Independence and Economic Independence? So far South has Political Indepence for the Majority Black but far from it,No Economic banefit for the Balck un Employed in Slam Locations!! Negotiating for Political independence was a separateTASK.

  • mzondistanley - 2012-06-25 11:52

ANCYL, Should know that they are part of the Ruling Group and should not develop Verbal Diarrhea any time they face a new Challenge!! Do research before coming to talk to Media or Public !! You are becoming Irrelevant, if instead of proving Solutions through your Organisation ,you are busy with empty RETOLIC. Provide Constructive Policy suggestions. Not Campagn Stories which do not assist Service Delivery that People await from you!!
