ANC region divided over Mantashe or Mbalula

East London - The ANC's OR Tambo region is divided over whether to back Gwede Mantashe or Fikile Mbalula as the party’s secretary general, the Daily Dispatch reported on Thursday.

"The view is very strong on change in the presidency, but there are different views when it comes to the secretary general position," regional deputy secretary Lawrence Mambila was quoted as saying.

"There are branches that want Mantashe to retain his position, while others want Mbalula."

Branches had assessed their leaders and were choosing the one they thought would best lead the ANC.

"We do not want to impose leaders on people. What we promote as the OR Tambo leadership is that they must first scan the environment before making a choice," Mambila said.

Branches who wanted Mantashe to retain his position argued that he held the party's organisational memory and came from the Eastern Cape.

Mantashe is arrogant, Fikile must remain as Minister of Sport. Hes doing a good job so far. The rest of cabinet must change.

Mantashe must go, he had killed the ANC in the Eastern Cape. ANC is not like IFP its not a regional organization. He has caused a lot of mess in the ANC, its time for him to go and sit next to the kraal in Cala and reflect say to himself "I waz once a leader of the ANC." The ANC PEC in Eastern Cape should be charged for manipulating votes in 2010 and even now they should be held accountable for the recent revelations regarding cooked branch meetings in Amathole. They copied from Kwazulu-Natal and Mpumalanga where ghost branches were established to raise a big number for enable their faction to win in Mangaung. It is worse in Free State where more than 600 legitimate branches were sidelined because they had s different preferred candidates for Mangaung. The PEC in Free State should be disbanded as it is illegitimate. Those people who made an apeal to Luthuli were waisting their time because the matter was handled by the same people whom they wanted to vote them out. There is no democracy in the ANC now. Current leaders are no longer honest they only think about their stomachs. ANC branches must go to Mangaung with clear mandate, change the leadership and remove corrupt leaders. Corrupt leaders are in the public domain no one should ask who are they. Sdumo Dlamini of Cosatu is a tribalist that needs to be ignored, many comrades in the IFP know him as a dedicated and loyal member who loves his own people during his time as an IFP member with Blade Nzimande.

"Branches who wanted Mantashe to retain his position argued that he held the party's organisational memory and came from the Eastern Cape." There! Right there! That's where the problem is with voters in this country. They will only elect a person because of who he/she is instead of nominating them based on what good they can bring to the country.

ANC has never been so divided as this is situation ,I was personal expecting this division because we are lied upon by individuals who are claiming to lead this revolution. We are unapologetic we want change not in Mr Zuma but in Cde Mantlante the. President in waiting. Asijiki.
