ANC will regain Western Cape - Fransman

2012-06-11 07:51

Cape Town - Western Cape ANC chairperson Marius Fransman believes the party can regain control of the province in 2014, it was reported on Monday.

He told the Cape Times that the party could achieve this goal by reaching out to coloured people scarred by apartheid and recognising how blacks had been alienated in the province.

The party would also take the lead in placing the Khoi and San's need for land before the provincial government, he said.

Closer relations would be forged with Muslims.

"We recognise that there are at least 1.3 million Muslims. It is very important to have a strong relationship, not for their voting, but because they were part of the fight for liberation."

The provincial executive highlighted key focus areas including limited services in poor areas, a high incidence of foetal alcohol syndrome and unacceptable school drop-out rates.

Fransman was speaking after the provincial general council at the weekend.

Why not just focus on improving the lives of ALL SOUTH AFRICANS as a campaign strategy? Is that too much to ask????

      anthonycharles.williams - 2012-06-11 08:09

but why do you want it back??? It,s the best run province in south africa, well in the whole of Africa, and you have no idea how to run a spazashop.

      Jack - 2012-06-11 08:12

Are we meant to be scared? ANC will remain up north, where they belong.

      Jono - 2012-06-11 08:22

they are going to bribe the people with empty promises and use apartheid in there argument for the next 100years!

      Dave - 2012-06-11 08:27

Fransman has a better chance of falling pregnant than the ANC re-gaining W.P.

      Andres - 2012-06-11 08:32

"He told the Cape Times that the party could achieve this goal by reaching out to coloured people scarred by apartheid and recognising how blacks had been alienated in the province." So, admitting, they can't campaign off governance and track-record, they have to invoke pain from the past to win votes? Does the ANC really have NOTHING to offer for the future? The Coloureds aren't stupid! They want a better life tomorrow, not a pity party about yesterday. They've first hand seen how much the ANC "cares" for them. Coloureds have allegiance to nobody and vote with their heads (in general), unfortunately, the ANC can't appeal to them, as intellectual capacity in the party is sorely lacking.

      andre.ernstzen - 2012-06-11 08:38

      LOL Marius got jokes

      mossie.geldenhuys - 2012-06-11 08:44

      Marius you tool!!

      henryian73 - 2012-06-11 09:06

Fransman so detached to whats really happening under his nose all over the Cape. More and more previously ANC supporters moving towards the DA thanks to Fransmans style of leadership and the fact that many feel he can't be trusted.

      John - 2012-06-11 09:13

Again, 'part of liberation movement', ' scars of apartheid ' - same rhetoric and fear used to get votes. It's disgusting not to mention stupid. The province is not perfect but it was improved, and more and more municipalities there vote for the DA because they see material difference they have made. If he wants that province, why doesn't he explain what plans/programmes they have to do better than the DA? Why should people vote for them today in that province seeing improvements were already made and continue to be made? Instead, he uses the past and racial fears to gain votes. Absolutely no substance. If he gave a rational, well thought out plan, I'd be the first to listen.

      henryian73 - 2012-06-11 09:18

Just by his and their approached they've lost already! They ran a negative campaign before and it didn't work. Once again a start to very negative campaign..... I seriously doubt is going to work. And just by his focus he lost a huge Christian support base.

      darryl.maze1 - 2012-06-11 09:20

@ anthonycharles, they want it back so they can get there big fat greasy corrupt hands in the WC loaded cookie jar. The ANC know the DA is putting them to shame. The DA is showing the ANC how a province is meant to be run and they dont like it. Now they wanna reach out to the coloureds??? After what they said about the coloureds in the western cape why would they want the racist ANC to reach out to them??? ANC will never win here again. DA has done a awesome job here in the western cape.

      Fred - 2012-06-11 09:37

This is rich, coming from a despicable, slimy racist like Franzman !!!! All Fransman does is organise unrest in the Cape. Typical anc, rather tear down everything, because they have no idea how to build up anything. If you want to be credible, Franzman, start doing something constructive, not destructive. better still, just disappear, that will make everyone happy.

      nigel.burgess.52 - 2012-06-11 09:52

Love it when they set themselves up for a fall.

      eric.west.984 - 2012-06-11 10:42

He'll have to import a lot more Xhosa refugees if he wants to win the next election!

      Jacqui - 2012-06-11 12:11

Annman, Fransman doesn't give a damn about coloured people. All he cares about is his own ambitions. Now why would he think coloured people would believe a clown like him?. They are far more intelligent than that. Besides Manyi's words still ring in their ears.

      richard.fahrenfort - 2012-06-11 12:57

Huh? A little while ago the ANC wanted to relocate the coloureds out of the Cape because there were too many there apparently, remember? Also amusing to see that Fransman and the ANC have nothing to offer except for nostalgia and the race card. Given the current turmoil within the ANC ranks and the visible difference the DA had made in the Cape I'd say that this is a very very ambitious goal the WC ANC has set for themselves.

      jarryd.fitschen - 2012-06-11 15:17

they said they would regain it last election...but instead they lost ground iirc, why would this time be any different

      Honey - 2012-06-11 16:39

THESE ASSH*LES AT NEWS24 KEEP REMOVING MY POSTINGS! So typical of cANCerous supporters!

      seymour.howe - 2012-06-11 17:03

      Anton - 2013-03-20 11:13

See how removed he and his party are from reality?

  • Mark - 2012-06-11 08:00

So they now want to reach out to 'Coloureds' and 'Muslims'. But wait for it, not for votes - but because they want to sit around a camp fire and sing struggle songs. Who the hell is this guy trying to kid? The people of the Western Cape - all races - voted AGAINST the ANC. You were in power once before and you screwed up. Get the message, we don't want you! Stop trying to manipulate people to vote for you based on your racial hatred.

      Travis - 2012-06-11 08:20

ANC's arrogance will be their downfall. I belive a party with such racially focused agendas will never lead South Africa to true prosperity. ANC are always trying to take back "their" country, instead of actually running it. Our politicians spend half there terms in office, in court.

      Juan - 2012-06-11 09:19

Yip it's time that the ANC stop dreaming and realise that they aren't welcome in the Cape of Good Hope. The masses don't want them here.

      Foe - 2012-06-11 09:54

I can't see why the coloured community voted for the DA , when the DA have done little for them to date, The DA is no better than the ANC,theyare all in it to win it for themselves.

      Andres - 2012-06-11 11:30

@Foe - think you have your answer, see the thumbs up and down tally. Think the Coloured Community is telling you something :-)

      Jacqui - 2012-06-11 12:18

Wonder why they are reaching out only now. Muslims and coloureds are all of a sudden good enough. But they can't make promotion anywhere or find decent jobs because they are not black enough. Do the ANC really have no brains?.

      Raymond - 2012-06-11 14:49

He has more chance of being shagged by Gene Autry's horse.

    Good Luck.

  • JournoSergio - 2012-06-11 08:02

Interesting. It was not too long ago that the ANC said there were too many coloured people in the Western Cape and that they should be "moved" to the other provinces...

      Jacqui - 2012-06-11 12:22

Journo, and the likes of Fransman and his tronies have forgotten that, but not the coloured commmunity.

      JournoSergio - 2012-06-11 13:04

Agreed. I trust that the public and media will drag that old issue out and remind the ANC. Then we will see the political games being played.

Concentrated power has always been the enemy of liberty. - Ronald Reagan

      John - 2012-06-11 09:42

That's why I keep telling people that it's not important right now, realistically that the DA win the presidency. It is about having a strong vocal opposition that will force the incumbent to be held accountable. If more votes can go to anyone else other than the ANC, the ANC will feel pressure to perform. If not out of integrity, they will perform out of self-interest to survive in power. Right now, they have too much power, and there is no urgency to perform - they're mentality is one that they know they will win majority at next elections so they have no pressure nor urgency to perform. Numsa blames capitalism for the incumbent's corruption, they intend to change the political system to a communist one to protect ANC from the 'ills of capitalism'. Little do they realise it is concentration of power that has corrupted them, and by following a communist system, they would give absolute power to the ANC. Scary stuff.

      Jacqui - 2012-06-11 12:24

Ronald Reagan also said trees caused pollution.

      Billy - 2012-06-12 13:57

man, im convinced 80% of the ANC is on cocain. i have dealt and spoken with people on/addicted to cocain and the behaviour of some ANC people is identical to concain users. irrational arguements and erratic behaviour is the tip of the iceberg. seeing some of the drug busts that happened amongst TOP LEVEL anc officials its not too far fetched either....!!!

  • Kevin - 2012-06-11 08:07

whaa ha ha...OMG thats a good one!!

  • Koos - 2012-06-11 08:07

I don't live in the Western Cape BUT PLEASE GOD don't let this happen. Keep the devils at bay. Protect the Western Cape from their evils. Do not let the daemons in! Make the people strong and smart enough to resist them. Expel the profits of darkness to Gauteng and leave the Western Cape in peace. Amen.

  • Greg - 2012-06-11 08:07

Let's hope those in the Western Cape 'scarred by apartheid' see through the ANC's useless banter and realize that the past is the past and that their's and their province's future is served best by the DA, not the ANC...

      Nicolaas - 2012-06-11 19:18

@Greg, THE ALL NATIONAL CRIMINAL PARTY IS IRRELEVANT IN THE WESTERN CAPE. They can cordingly drown themselve as they will never, never rule WESTERN CAPE! FINISH & KLAAR!

  • Phillip du Plessis - 2012-06-11 08:08

Why do they always refer to apartheid??? Wake up ANC... Apartheid doesn't exist anymore!!!!

      TheyTookMyNickLaZynEko - 2012-06-11 08:53

oh yes it does, they are making sure of it.

  • mihaip007 - 2012-06-11 08:08

So here is the way anc operates. If you are scared of apartheid the anc will feed off that fear like cancer. If the koi and san will vote for the cancer, they make a promise regarding land. (Funny how they did nothing throughout the country regarding this matter. The proof is in the pudding) and finally since they have so much experience with numbers running in the millions (all the millions of rands wastfully being spent) they first look at how many muslims they and then they target them. I don't know but i do have a problem with being treatted like cattle by simply putting a number on my name. Oh yeah and the education: the levels of dropouts are not accessible. "Comrades we'll lower the standards even more" then we will have acceptable levels. Idiots...

The only way the ANC will win WC is by sending buses loads of people from Eastern Cape. Majority of brown people loathe the ANC. Marius Fransman you hypocrite why dont you ask Jimmy Manyi with his ANC policies why brown people dont vote ANC. Stop playing the struggle card and start playing the competency card. When brown people vote for the DA is NOT because they are supporting a so-called white party but rather a relatively competent party. Thinking about ANC controlling WC makes me want to vomit!

  • pws69 - 2012-06-11 08:15

Haahhahaahhahahaa. Sure. Zille was just voted best Premier in the country by the Public Service Commmission. That means even the ANC recognise that the DA delivers the most in the country for ALL of its citizens. I expect the opposite - even more votes for the DA in 2014.

TEEPEEKULL ANC-pf mentality - create a black vs white scenario. Shyte they are so useless they don 't even look at the collapse in the rest of the country. Fatso Kieviet is the worst premier. Limpopo completely collapsing and they have the highest ANC vote % there (makes you think doesn't it?), Free State rudderless, Gauteng bankrupt with billing chaos - need I go on??? Why don't you focus on the places where you do "rule" and fix them instead of trying to fix where it is not broken MORON ?????

  • anton.behrens - 2012-06-11 08:29

just like the ANC, falling back on 94(deserved tactics) apartheid emotion, they wanna win the province be reminding the ppl abt the apartheid days, why dnt they tell them of their bad service delivery and poor(knowledge, lots of cash in their pockets tho)service delivery records and all the fraud in the party, its all over the news, the world is laughng at us!

  • Ronald - 2012-06-11 08:30

Once again the ANC cannot use the issues of the day or service delivery to appeal to the voters, but have to stoop to old apartheid era rhetoric and historic fears to do so. Wake up, little Suzie(Fransman), you are missing the boat yet again. The DA has been doing an excellent job and none of fears touted during and before the elections of the coloured and black voters being marginalised has materialised. Soon Fransman will take a leaf out of Zuma's book and say that the ancestors or Allah(PBUH) wants us to vote ANC.

If the voters put the ANC back in power in WC, accept the immediate downfall and degradation of services and infrastructure that will go with it, as well as the rise in corruption and nepotism. The WC is the best run area in Africa, and like everywhere, has its issues, but go and stay 1 week anywhere in the rest of SA and you will immediately experience the difference. Limpopo and the Eastern Cape is on the brink of collapse, thanks to the ANC, so what do they have to offer the WC?

  • Andrew Smit - 2012-06-11 09:01

Maybe the ANC can use the team that bankrupted Limpopo to come and run the WC

  • logancyoung - 2012-06-11 09:01

So we'll make people cry because of apartheid - which is irrelevant in society today. We'll Scare them by telling them if they let white people back in government it'll happen again (which we know is impossible because we fully understand that the apartheid regime was not sustainable). We'll tell the Muslim people that we love them, but we actually don't. And we'll make promises we have no intention of keeping (and are actually completely unable to keep anyway, even if we did intend to try at all). Sounds like standard ANC governance to me...
