ANCWL: All the DA does is criticise

2012-11-10 14:39

Johannesburg - The DA is not a viable challenge to the ANC, because it only focuses on criticising the ruling party without coming up with its own solutions, the ANC Women's League said on Saturday.

"Instead of focusing on coming up with solutions to society's problems they simply focus on attacking the ANC," African National Congress Women's League spokesperson Troy Martens said in a statement.

"This does, however, give the ANC some sense of comfort because a party that does not challenge the ANC on an ideological and political level...can never be a viable challenge."

Martens said the Democratic Alliance was desperate to get publicity.

"A clear example of this would be the march led by [DA leader] Helen Zille in Nkandla to President Jacob Zuma’s home. This was nothing more than a cheap publicity stunt by Zille and an act of utter provocation."

She said the DA was seeking further publicity when it and other opposition parties in Parliament tabled a motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma on Thursday.

It was another "fruitless publicity stunt to distract the ANC from the mandate given to us by the people of South Africa to govern and serve them".

"It is also a vote of no confidence in the Farlam Commission of inquiry investigating the Marikana tragedy. It is a vote of no confidence in the Public Protector and a vote of no confidence in the Treasury investigation into expenditure at the president’s home," said Martens.

The motion was brought on the grounds "that under his leadership the justice system has been politicised and weakened; corruption has spiralled out of control; unemployment continues to increase, the economy is weakening, and, the right of access to quality education has been violated".

The motion was "mandated" by eight opposition parties, including the African Christian Democratic Party, the Azanian People's Organisation, the Congress of the People, the Democratic Alliance, the Freedom Front Plus, the Inkatha Freedom Party, the United Christian Democratic Party and the United Democratic Movement.

Martens said parties that took part in the motion should be "ashamed" of the way they conducted themselves.

"They have let down their constituency who can no longer take them seriously due to the ridiculous manner they are conducting their political debates."

Don't you think its about time that the MINORITY, which is the Government should maybe shut up, before their whole nation turns against them.. and yes.. with the biggest smile kill them all...

      claudia.meads - 2012-11-10 16:01

"...All the DA does is criticize...". Well all the ANC does is to screw up. So go figure..! The DA is "...a party that does not challenge the ANC on an ideological and political level...". Ha, ha, ha - the best joke I have heard all year. How about, - Stealing from a minority to line your own pockets is NOT a political ideology..! - Nor is using tax income to buy votes - viz paying people to sit at home (given to you for NOTHING btw), or hang around some dysfunctional state/government department doing nothing constructive, just so they keep voting for you, is NOT a political ideology..! - All you have produced are ILLITERATE GRADUATES and TENDERPRENEURS - so I guess its why you cannot fathom that the 'vote of no-confidence' was 100% due to the ANC's "political ideology" (viz enrich yourself at any- and every cost). "...parties that took part in the motion should be "ashamed" of the way they conducted themselves...". I WAS WRONG - this is the biggest joke of the century..!! The ANC should be ashamed of what they are doing to SA - just ask The Economist, Wall Street Journal, Tutu, Dr Ramphele, etc, etc. "... the mandate given to us by the people of South Africa to govern and serve them...". WAIT, wait, I was wrong again - this is the biggest joke of the millennium..!!! What they really mean is - 'the mandate given by ourselves to RULE and ROB people'. If you are really soooo confident - why are you even bothering to make a formal statement..?

      NickvanGraan - 2012-11-10 20:33

The DA never comes up with solutions? well maybe if you have a look at the way the Western Cape is run you might find some solutions hidden in there Troy Martens. Whenever the DA do come up with any solutions, they are either shouted down or ignored.

      francois.smith.7 - 2012-11-10 22:05

And all the ANCWL does is to bend over for Zuma. No pun intended.

      Claudia_Meads - 2012-11-10 23:50

Blackyoungandangry, Perhaps you should rather pursue a 'stable' primary school teacher - the person noted in the article is a lady by the name of Helen (not Hellen - HE was a mythological progenitor, of the Hellenes, the son of Deucalion...).

      alf.pop - 2012-11-11 09:20

"All the DA does is critizise": All the ANCWL does is follow Zipper blindly, like a herd of dumb sheep, not questioning any of his "decisions", defending his SPEAR! Just a warning to the WL: When you reach the cliff, your so-called leader will step aside and let you jump first! Should make quite a splash!

  • nettie.potgieter.5 - 2012-11-10 14:50

Ai these lot of ignorant women do not understand demoracy and is so use to be abused by men.

      Desilusionada - 2012-11-10 17:48

This coming from a movement that calls themselves a WOMEN'S LEAGUE, yet who were "not ready to put forward a presidential candidate" Happy to be under the chauvinistic heel......

      saintbruce.bruce - 2012-11-11 13:54

Well BY+A you said it - you are black, young and angry - one woders what made you this way? Not the DA but just look at what YOUR Government has made you - Young and Angry. You are not alone. There are angry young indians, angry old indians, angry young coloured, angry old coloureds, angry young whites and angry old whites. What we all have in common is that we are all ANGRY. What we also have in common is what we are ANGRY about - the way our lovely country is being STUFFED UP by an uncaring ruling leadership. So far where the DA is governing there is a chance of prosperity. So far where the ANC is governing there is only a chance of poverty.[ unless you are a 'selected' comrade]. Which chance at life would you prefer? Vote accordingly or shut up.

  • - 2012-11-10 14:53

Troy Martens... the anc should be ashamed of the way they have conducted themselves, self enrichment, corruption, nepotism, non-delivery, failed education, failed health systems... need i go on?? put your country and it's people first for a change, then maybe we can see things moving forward and in a positive light

      jane.dawson.165 - 2012-11-10 15:39

It is sad that the ruling party still acts as a freedom fighting unit, and does not seem to grasp the fact that there is a huge difference between fighting for freedom and delivering a service.

      patsy.smith.125 - 2012-11-10 17:52

Yes! When they do their job properly, there won't be any reason to criticize.

      fanie.gerber1972 - 2012-11-11 05:55

Hi Jane, The fact is that nowhere in the world has a "freedom fighting" movement ever been a successful government - and for those who want to cite china as the example....the communist party consist of 85 million chinese, the rest of the non communist people in china - cowed into keeping quiet 1,48 Billion....

  • indianajohn - 2012-11-10 14:59

Oh shut the hell up ANCWL. You're so stupid, you're voting for fewer rights for yourselves. So anything you say must be taken for the drivel it is.

  • morne.demeillon - 2012-11-10 15:06

Cant the woman of the ANCWL speak for themselves? African Christian Democratic Party, the Azanian People's Organisation, the Congress of the People, the Democratic Alliance, the Freedom Front Plus, the Inkatha Freedom Party, the United Christian Democratic Party and the United Democratic Movement. Watch this space! SA will be heading in the right direction soon! Its going to hit you like 24 wheeler truck, ANC.

  • cuanita.gevers - 2012-11-10 15:11

What is Troy Martens smoking? I want some. Clearly not reading any articles to see how many solutions the DA HAS come up with. Wake up and smell the coffee Martens!

      jayjay.mlungu - 2012-11-10 20:31

mfanafuthi.mhlungu and kgomotso kotso you are both blinded by reality. Clearly not WC educated!

  • larry.piggott1 - 2012-11-10 15:13

The Criticism is well justified, but what else do they suggest? The ANC would do well to sub contract the running of South Africa to the DA, At least we would get better service and the Fat Cats would have an undisturbed sleep.

      ryan.a.smith.3958 - 2012-11-11 11:51

  • jake.ko.71 - 2012-11-10 15:17

Actually the DA have a lot of solutions, look how wonderful to they run Western Cape, but if you dont have the majority vote they cant implement the solutions that will fix the country, its people like the anc and all their little branches that have no concept of what the term solution means, so when the DA talk..they dont listen and walkout of the conferences...the anc think its only negative criticism..because they take everything selfishly serious and not focus on the argument of the problem.....ANC are not good leaders for this country..

      jake.ko.71 - 2012-11-10 15:28

@ ANCWL ......and to criticise the DA is also not gonna fix all the problems you and the ANC have greated...if it wasnt because of all your uneducated decisions that makes this country worst everyday..the DA would never criticise you.

      stirer.kathray - 2012-11-10 16:05

Actually, as the main opposition party, its their JOB to criticize and offer better options. I'm all for criticizing the government where they spend taxpayers money on lavish self enrichment. They seem to treat the taxpayers' money as their personal, bottomless bank accounts. Maybe its the AFRICAN way?

      Erna - 2012-11-10 16:29

So you admit the anc is corrupt? If you have evidence of the DA being corrupt you'd better report it to the puplic protector. You'll have to be patient however, because the good folks at the anc are keeping her very busy!

      Kgomotso - 2012-11-10 18:56

Cape Town in Western Cape is the only thing that DA is running properly. Outside Cape Town DA is doing and extremely terrible job. That means they are failing even in that one province can not be trusted with the whole country. And yes DA does not challenge the idealogy and policies of ANC it challenges human being and that means DA is in agreement with ANC.

      NickvanGraan - 2012-11-10 21:05

@mfanafuthi.mhlungu really? please give just two examples.

      ryan.a.smith.3958 - 2012-11-11 11:54

Kgomotso .. Zille won "best mayor in the world" a few years ago. that shows her ability. Zuma, and most others in ANC, would merely be contenders for best muppets

  • ron.bilyard - 2012-11-10 15:18

Yes, Ron, and their "leader" is - drum roll - none other than the utterly incompetent, denialist, so-called basic education minister, the one and only ANGIE.

  • Adil Smit - 2012-11-10 15:20

      harold.parsons.37 - 2012-11-10 15:39

Yes they barely breath. They are irrelavant in the current political scene and so are thier comments. They are trying to attract Jacobs attention because he has his own Zulu womans league at Nkandla and does not need this lot except maybe for a spare bit of fun for the boys like in the old days.

  • mzwandile.dlamanzi - 2012-11-10 15:21

This organisation like the youth league does not have any interests n what is suppose to be their core business, which is empowerment of woman both socially and economically. Its unfortunate that its resources are just misused for other interests.

Darn! what you are saying is the DA keeps it's finger on the pulse and brings to the public the crap thats going on. at least they are wiser than the present government failing which by now we would have been in Sh&t Street. Keep it up!

  • rontheogre - 2012-11-10 15:26

God, Troy Martens, you are thick. It is people like you that have the fantastic ability to see a donkey fart and then say that apartheid, colonialism or the DA caused it. The only way you would get a degree in logic is if you stole it or were presented with it. In the speech leading on from the motion for a vote of no confidence, Zuma and the ANC are listed as the reason for the woes we are now experiencing, not the government in general, as there are some people in government that are doing an excellent job, however few they may be. The DA have often tabled suggestions to help solve problems, as they have actively been implementing in the WC, to such an extent that even Jacob Zuma indicated that this is an example other provinces should aspire to, but the ANC is too thick headed or scared the rivers of gold will be turned off. Heaven forbid that the future might hold some benefit for the voters at the cost of the bank balance of Zuma and company.

      Jaybeebaby - 2012-11-10 15:39

  • michael.jackwood - 2012-11-10 15:29

DA just hate president Zuma, according to them ANC is doing nothing, and they always appreciate the work being done by Thuli Madonsela, but then they dont think about the person who appointed her to that position, which is part of that person's good leadership, SA have never had a public protecor who works like Thuli since 1994: that should tell DA something!

      matthew.patrick.925 - 2012-11-10 16:07

Interesting pseudonym you chose there. He may have done well in appointing such a dedicated public protector but she works so hard because she constantly has to investigate his many failed and corrupt appointments, corruption that was bred from his poor leadership.

@Troy Martens - As the ANCWL what have you done for the woman of this country???? Sweep your back door before you come and throw dirt on someone else's door step. You are just as useless as the ANC Government. Thieves is what they are!!!! The ANC Mandate was not given by the people of this country, the ANC made up their own Mandate to suit themselves. Nowhere do I see people prospering, getting a good education, good healthcare - all the things that a government is supposed to provide to the people of the country. All I see is the top ANC people getting richer, fatter and more and more like a DICTATOSHIP. Anyone who disagrees with them is the "ENEMY". Time for the ANC to f**k O** - we don't want you anymore !!!!! Hamba Hamba !!!!

  • phae.rayden - 2012-11-10 16:33

What about their trying to get the youth wage subsidy up and running I'm WP? There are many workable systems setup and in place waiting for someone to steer efficiently, but no-one in the ANC seems to understand how to manage money or projects, hence the endless criticism from DA.

And maybe you forgot there are even more open toilets in the Free State and other parts of the country. Many are still using the bucket system in your ANC ruled provinces. So here's the deal Mr Smart, stick to the topic and don't allow your stupidity to get the better of you.

      pws69 - 2012-11-10 17:53

Even more toilets still open in Viljoenskroon, but the ANC gets a free pass, and a pat on the back for the little they did do. DA are held to a far higher standard. Maybe the majority in SA do expect better performance from the DA. If that is the case, vote DA

      vivian.harris.73 - 2012-11-10 18:22

Did those people vote DA or ANC? Why isn't the ANC doing something about it then? You don't vote for the white man but you want the white man to fix your problems......

      william.letsong.5 - 2012-11-10 19:33

I'm sorry vivian.harris, I'll have to disagree with you. The DA works in all areas, not only in the ones who voted for them. Its just that some don't appreciate and expect more for not doing a single thing. Most (not all) in the township believe that you don't bin a sweet wrap. You throw it on the ground although there's bin close by. They call it \job creation\. They (not all) break everything because they (not everyone) are getting it for free. They don't have to work hard for it, they can just go into the streets and destroy when they are unhappy. That's the mentality in the townships especially the black areas. I'm no more sorry for idiots who waste my hard earned cash in the form of tax. And No, I don't vote DA, I will spoil my ballot in the next elections, however i will give Zille her due when she is doing a great job.

You say all the DA does is criticize, maybe if the ANC stopped screwing up they would have nothing to criticize. All the ANC has been doing lately is emotionally blackmailing the black population into thinking we owe them for liberation talking about "the struggle",the only struggle we are facing today is the struggle to be liberated for rule of the ANC it is 18years into democracy and we have nothing to show for it.We are the laughing stock of the world. There are schools in the Eastern Cape and Limpompo who don't have study material yet somehow we can afford to use tax payers money to upgrade private residences of ministers. Most of us are going to graduate a few years from now and enter the job market but with the way the country is being governed right now what future do we really have.

  • marius.botha.946 - 2012-11-10 18:50

the wolrd laughs at South Africa because I mean come on if the ruling party can't handle pressure, how the hell do they want to run a whole country, they complain about other parties not doing anything but what there forgeting is that the other parties did not promise what they can't deliver they complain about the people not being equal but look in the party self, they complain about how the need for jobs increase but they take away farms from people who provides jobs who provides food better than the party could ever do, they want more jobs but they can't help an young entrepenuar get his business up, no. Yet they can upgrade houses of ministers, president, who is the person who should give his home, his life style up just so his land \r\nof which he is ruler can survive, that was the loyalty and honour of people many years ago, they would give there last breath so that their people would live, but what does our president do? He goes and upgrades his house for one outrages amount, and the best is, his almost never in SA. WTF!!!

  • wally.williams.148 - 2012-11-10 19:06

I wish to ask you what else you expect them to do. I am not a DA supporter, but I can tell you this, I just read the comments from intelligible black South Africans and I know as they do that our country is NOT being governed properly and ethically. Leave national Level for now and look at what happened with Local Authorities and continue to happen. Look at what is happening to the valuable resources. Oh I can carry on. Why was the ANC so intent on forcing the Info Bill through? Why is the Traditional Courts Bill forced? Why are criminals treated with more respect than the respectful electorate? Why is there such a toklerance for power greedy individuals and groups to the detriment of the ppl and the country? The only thing that has rescued the ANC to this point is the fact that the SACP and COSATU have been sucked into this spiral of self-enrichment, corruption, egotistical show of power that they dare not split away. In addition, the way the voting is done secures a total uneven balance of politics. Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely! Let us not forget that one legacy of apartheid has been the illiterate masses - however, nearly 20 yrs on and your current ANC has made absolutely sure that that remains the same, or even worse, simply gets exacerbated. Appointing teachers do not change the quality of education. So, perform according to your mandate and with integrity, honesty, decency and unselfishly serve. You may see a change, Madam.

  • Tshephangsithole - 2012-11-10 19:07

The ANC member who wrote this should do research in Politics, how the hell should DA support its opposition party if they too wana lead the country?
