ANCYL: Zille will never be president

2011-04-07 10:34

Johannesburg - The ANC Youth League on Wednesday disagreed with the remarks and observations of Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi on the upcoming local government elections.

In his address to the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa's bargaining conference, Vavi said that 'We [the ANC] are going into elections with our tails between our legs. With our backs to the wall, because we have lost 1.17 million jobs and 5.8 million families are plunged into poverty".

In the same address, Vavi also said there was a possibility that the ANC might soon call someone President Zille, ANCYL spokesperson Floyd Shivambu said in a statement.

"The ANCYL does not agree that the ANC will go to local government elections with its tail behind the legs, because contrary to what is implied, the ANC has done exceptionally well with regards to service delivery."

ANCYL: 80% of promises fulfilled

The ANC provided water, electricity, roads, sanitation, houses and many other basic services to millions of people over the past five years, he said.

"Whilst we all accept that there is a problem of unemployment, it is wrong to blame unemployment and retrenchments on the ANC government, particularly at [the] local level."

Shivambu said the ANC was going into the local government elections with its head very high because they had fulfilled more than 80% of the promises made in the 2006 local government elections.

"The general secretary of Cosatu should understand better than anyone that job losses that occurred because of the world economic recession cannot be blamed on the ANC, but on many other factors that are beyond the ANC’s control.

"Instead of educating workers that job-losses are a result of global economic crisis, the general secretary of Cosatu implies that the ANC is responsible for the job-losses."

He said the ANC government carried a responsibility of building sustainable livelihoods for all the people of South Africa and was on track with regards to functions it could play.

Zille ‘will never be president’

Shivambu said that DA leader Helen Zille also not ever be president of South Africa.

"An imagination that Helen Zille will ever be president of South Africa is alarmist because Helen Zille will never be president of South Africa (sic), even if the sun can set from a different direction."

The majority of the people of South Africa knew that Zille represented the interests of some white people and played on their insecurities to secure votes and funding, Shivambu said.

He said she had demonstrated this in the decisions taken by the Democratic Alliance government in the Western Cape that she had no regard for black communities.

"The DA will never lead South Africa and no one in the movement should have such imaginations and because they are just that, IMAGINATIONS (sic)."

The ANCYL would always protect the right of all in the movement to freely express themselves, "but will always express our disagreements on issues that are said in an alarmist fashion", Shivambu said.

      KaiinSA - 2011-04-07 13:09

Yup, sounds like a case of "if I can't be then I don't want anyone else to either"

  • MK007 - 2011-04-07 10:39

hahaha tick tock tick tock, go zille

      Francois - 2011-04-07 13:53

I also think that Vlooid and Malema must go - but not forward like Zille. They can just leave. They have lesser chance than Helen at becoming president - will you agree?

  • South_Africa - 2011-04-07 10:40

Got to love it - he doesnt even know the propper expression - "The ANCYL does not agree that the ANC will go to local government elections with its tail behind the legs, because contrary to what is implied, the ANC has done exceptionally well with regards to service delivery."

      TheBokFan - 2011-04-07 11:14

That does not mean anything, it is probably not Mr Shivambu's native language. How many Zulu or Xhosa expressions can you use? Would you denigrate a French official because he gets an English expression slightly wrong? Lets stick to the point of the article and not act all superior.

      Smaal - 2011-04-07 11:23

South_Africa: He was misquoted. You need to add … by African standards.

      JohannV - 2011-04-07 12:31

BokFan, if he wants to act Smart Alec and use idioms, he must use them properly. A dog's tail is ALWAYS behind its legs, unless the Smart Alec ANC lackeys breed different types of dogs. It's as good as saying "Don't let sleeping dogs lie" - WTF does it mean?

      E.Nuff - 2011-04-07 13:14

@TheBokFan - on one level I agree with you 100% - allowances for the incorrect use of an expression should be made for non-native speakers. On the other, the man claims to be a graduate of WITS university, which being an english-speaking teriary institution, should mean that he should be able to communicate clearly in english.

      Patience - 2011-04-07 16:40

I also couldn't stop laughing at the tail BEHIND the legs bit. He couldn't even quote Vavi correctly - real dumb talker. Shame.

  • Solo-JHB - 2011-04-07 10:40

If Zille ever comes into power it will be because of the ANCYL. Everytime they issue statements the ANC loses votes.

      clayton.bezuidenhout - 2011-04-07 16:29

      You can say that again!

  • ji - 2011-04-07 10:42

my only wish is that the ANC lose the elections , it does not matter to who as long as we dont have to hear the crap that comes out of the uneducated and retarded ANCYL members snouts .

      Styx - 2011-04-07 12:37

ji, problem is that the ANC will never lose election. Their supporters are too stupid for that. With the DA proving that their locally run municipalities are the best run in the country the idiots complaining about service delivery make statements like "We won't vote until we get service" Duh - why not give the party that’s proving to be the best run, least corrupts a chance? Why, "because she's white" Well then Mr and Mrs township dweller, you deserve everything thing you're getting. Isn't it nice to starve under a black man rather than prosper under a white one?

      clayton.bezuidenhout - 2011-04-07 16:30

I think it will happen. But not soon. Apartheid is still to fresh in their minds. Once people start promitong the idea of what Apartheid was. Then only will people feel free to vote for anyone they wany. not just who they were told to vote for. It is sad times to see the ANC in Power. But not everything last and one day the ANC will Lose.

      Steve Wonderboy - 2011-04-09 16:29

What they actually do is continue to vote ANC because they do not want a white person to come into power. Then when the ANC do not deliver they start throwing tantrums and burning tires to punish the ANC. You cannot reason with illogical people, only way they will learn is by suffering long enough under incompetence. Worse part is by that time they would probably expect immediate results too.

  • Stofpad - 2011-04-07 10:43

The results will speak for itself, lets wait for the elections...

      The-man-who - 2011-04-07 11:38

      DH - 2011-04-07 11:45

Themsevels..??? You need to learn how to spell dude!

      Jaco Smit - 2011-04-07 11:56

lol, themselves refers to people, 'it' refers to something that is not personified like results.

      BlackPoison - 2011-04-07 12:06

      Other Justin - 2011-04-07 13:11

  • Slapper - 2011-04-07 10:43

How can these clowns make a statement like that and still say that this is a democracy? We seem to be living in a land ruled by a whole party full of Gaddafi's. God forbid that any of our future leaders are presently among this lot.

What are you now that the ANC are in power?

      thakaali - 2011-04-07 10:55

That makes no sense at all, my parents worked for province for 20 years, my dad has been working for local govt for 15 years, my older sister for local govt for 8 years and now I've started working for local govt. My dad can compare all the regime changes at local and province level, and he says that things have only gotten better under the DA. The senior staff in my department are walking around in fear that the ANC will recapture the City, as all the progress they have made will quickly be destroyed. I don't normally express my support for a certain party like this, but I needed to say something now.

      GB - 2011-04-07 10:57

Well at least they had jobs, my dear

      Solo-JHB - 2011-04-07 10:58

      @thakaali....spread the word brother

      thakaali - 2011-04-07 11:06

@GB After my dad's family was removed from a wonderful house with a view in Simon's Town and placed in Ocean View and he had to change to a public school, and after much hard work, studying by candelight so that he wouldn't use his sister's electricity, he got his matric, yep that's when he got a job

      craig - 2011-04-07 11:06

congratulations voting for the ANC will see you being a garden boy too. idiot!!!

      thakaali - 2011-04-07 11:07

      GB - 2011-04-07 11:13

@thakaali - not sure if you are sh*tting on me or agreeing with me. All i meant was that in a country with a very real unemployment problem, any job is better than none

      spetsnazss - 2011-04-07 11:21

ha ha ha now your mom and dad are starving and jobless and u still signing !! IDIOT

      The-man-who - 2011-04-07 11:43

My mother was a kitchen girl,my father was a garden boy that is why i'm A.N.C *singing* with passion. Today I am educated and a qualified Accountant because of the ANC. My mother was a kitchen girl, my father was a garden boy and that's why, that's why I am a communist (SACP, ANC, ANCYL & YCLSA).

      thakaali - 2011-04-07 11:45

@GB my bad I misinterpreted your tone, thought you were getting aggro

      DW - 2011-04-07 12:04

@ The-man-who - You must have bought your qualification as anyone who understands accounting and economics knows that communism is a failure. I promise you the ANC had nothing to do with any accounting qualifications. They discourage education, ruin the education system, drop the standards. No way they want educated people around. Truly educated people see through their wanton spending and corruption. You must be the accountant who did the books in one of the areas where the audit report was qualified due to misappropriation of funds. Struggle accounting. It figures.

      Other Justin - 2011-04-07 13:15

What does that have to do with voting ANC? My father is unemployed and my mother is old, but still have to work her crack off to keep her head above water, does that mean I must vote ANC? Let me tell you something, it is the ANC that is keeping the gardeners and domestic workers and their families in poverty. You logic is very flawed, FAIL.

      amdisgusted - 2011-04-07 13:25

And I bet that your mother is still a kitchen girl and your father still a gardener or unemployed.

      KnysnaSha - 2011-04-07 13:28

Recently a black headmaster at a black school who has been in teaching for 32 years made a comment to me about how the education system in SA has dropped since the ANC has been in power. He said used to be a lot better. And I am afraid our education in this country is shocking.

      Totman - 2011-04-07 13:41

Thanks thakaali for a family like yours. I know we are not always appreciate the work that gets done by you people[read local gov.] At least all knows now that you guys are doing the best in SA and I will make sure to be more friendly and thank you people the next time I am visiting any of your offices. Stop worrying. You can't keep a good person down.

      thakaali - 2011-04-07 14:45

@Totman thanks, there are many hardworking, good people working in government, it's just a pity that the government employees who have no work ethic are the ones that are on tv all the time

      Neles - 2011-04-08 13:32

@DW - I suppose all communist accountants around the world bought their qualifications as well then ...

      Nunya - 2011-04-09 16:29

HEY Sibongile....Repeat after me...slowly now....PRESIDENT ZILLE...yes, that's it. Now go outside and practice...

  • gys.smit - 2011-04-07 10:47

Hope we can prove them wrong Press Zille has nice ring to it !!

  • AnanseYoYo - 2011-04-07 10:48

I think it would be more accurate for the ANC to admit that they'll never allow a woman to lead the country. It is a cultural lack of respect for women as leaders. They make good wives, as long as you can have more than one at a time, you can serve sushi on their half-naked bodies, you can have sex with them (out of wedlock) and you can keep them around for entertainment.

      Isabel Jones - 2011-04-09 21:16

Totally agree with you AnanseYoYo. In Africa, thanks in part to the patriarchal, mysoginistic beliefs of African culture, a chicken is held in higher regard than a woman. If only these numbnuts (Shivambu & co.) would realise that the only countries that prosper are those that treat their women as equals, and accord them respect. By keeping women in a subservient and downtrodden position, society as a whole are poorer. It must really irk the ANC and ANCYL that Zille - a woman (clearly not of the 'ties and testicles' brigade) - is making good progress with service delivery in the Western Cape. I'd be just as supportive of a black woman who can walk the talk. Where are they all? Oh ... I remember now ... doing their subservient duties in their rightful place somewhere below chicken status!

  • ShRoOm PoPsiCLe - 2011-04-07 10:51

So after reading all that I have come to the conclusion that the interests of white people are going to be ignored under ANC rule. What a racist bunch they are! Next they will be putting us in concentration camps and digging out mass graves.. ONCE AGAIN the ANC is using RACE as a reason why to vote or not to vote for somebody - it is RACIST and insulting. So by all this it is apparent the ANC is ONLY FOR BLACK PEOPLE! Well, even that is a long shot considering they don't deliver!

  • Snow F Lake - 2011-04-07 10:53

You can't argue with cold hard stats by mocking the opposition - its not a credible come back and there are way better comedians in SA than mongoloid malema and and his equally moronic sidekick f-f-f-floyd - its a bit like dumb dumber. I used to vote ANC in the Mandela days, today I would be too embarrassed to support a party and their moronic, militant youth brigade that between them can't nominate a single credible person into a leadership position - never again and there are many who feel the same way I do. ANC leaders of today are an international embarrassment to our country and out people. Go Helen!

      paulf - 2011-04-07 11:07

Wow Snow, I really apprecaite and like your comment. It is so True!!!! I only wish that the majoroty will also open their eyes and see what the Current ANC means to them.

  • daaivark - 2011-04-07 10:54

"The ANCYL would always protect the right of all in the movement to freely express themselves....." You're kidding, right, Floyd.

  • willieman - 2011-04-07 10:54

ANCYL will take a route of Gbagbo,Mugabe,Baki and other dictators and tell the world that opposition party did not win elections. We need a goverment of naional unity.Remember the last election the so called MK veterans said they will make Western Cape ungovernable.

  • Wow! - 2011-04-07 10:58

ANC done exceptionally well!!!! I guess you may think that if you are used to doing nothing. Frankly the ANC has been an outright failure over the last 8 years. Sanity prevailed when Madiba had an influence. Now it is the thugs brigade.

  • alexander.lombard - 2011-04-07 11:02

If the ANC can not be responcible for Job losses then they can not be responcible for job creation. The ANC is never responcible for not performin but always responcible for when something goes well even though they did not contribute

      Other Justin - 2011-04-07 13:20

      Well said, EXACTLY!

  • T.MAN - 2011-04-07 11:04

Yes Floyd Zille may never be the Pres in her lifetime but please lets be realistic DA is making strides and that cannot be ignored and Vavi is correct to ring the bells b4 its too late. I am in the mining industry and i see on daily basis how white man is still continuing his cruelty to Africans. however we must also acknowledge its not all of them who are infested with this racist evil.Especially those who are in positions of influence many of them are so corrupt(white colar corroption)somebody must help us in the private sector.I work for chrome mine in Limpopo and its so bad here. I cant vote DA because of racism and i cant vote ANC because of corruption, i am still waiting for the party that i can vote for. The last time i voted was in 2004 and i have been voting ANC since 1994.

      eyrie - 2011-04-07 11:19

what like the ANC aren't racist either-the DA are the only multi-cultural party out there-rather vote the lesser of two evils than sit on the fence waiting for a perfect life-at least my adversaries in the ANC and other parties have the guts to vote-you my friend are a fence sitter

      DW - 2011-04-07 12:11

T.MAN - DA is not racist. Please dont believe the propaganda of the ANC. Voting DA may not change the corruption and racism in the mine where you work but could well make a difference in the municipality where you live. Racism is unacceptable in any shape or form, but the DA is not responsible for it. Racists tend to vote FF+, not DA.

      zena - 2011-04-07 13:01

i beg to differ DW..... the FF+ is not a racist party either. anybody that votes on race belongs only to the ANC All others vote with their heads and not their colour!!!!!

      Other Justin - 2011-04-07 13:44

T.Man, why are the DA racist? It amuses me that you call the DA racist, but you say that you will not vote for the ANC because of their corruption, this is confusing, considering the ANC is probably the most racist organisation in South Africa, with the most racist policies. Where the DA has NO racist policies. Is it your view that only white people can be racist? Please tell me that you are not that short sighted.

      zena - 2011-04-07 14:17

Other Justin......he said the DA IS NOT RACIST!!!

      velastardust - 2011-04-09 14:30

Maybe you are spending too much time underground and don't really know whats happening above ground T.MAN.

      Martin du Plessis - 2011-04-10 00:51

@Zena "I cant vote DA because of racism and i cant vote ANC because of corruption" I think people assumed he meant here the DA is racist, so he doesn't vote for them. Thats the conclusion i came to after reading that sentence too.

So what you are saying is that the ANC and its members are dictators ???? Same as the Other African Countries?? Just look whats going on there!!!!!! If that happens and civil war breaks out, you wont have any mines or capital to Nationalise you idiot. LOL Ai jai jai jai, when will these people learn??

What's going to happen in 2014? DA will govern the country?

      Other Justin - 2011-04-07 13:48

No The-man-who. We all know that that is not going to happen. What is going to happen though is that there is going to be a far stronger opposition to the ANC than there is now. In another couple of elections after 2014, who knows what will happen. The DA and other opposition is going to grow, and the DA is going to start winning more and more municipalities, in a good couple of years the ANC is going to have real opposition on their hands, may that come soon. Only effective opposition can force competition, which means good governance. This is a proven fact in all of the successful democracies, the world over.

My best friend was a black man, he died in a car crash a few years ago. My point is, If I was never born in the Apartheid Era, And I have never discriminated against you, then Why do you want me to leave? Are you racist?

So funny, ANCYL are such a joke!!! I think that they should maybe go back to school for some maths lessons, 80% what a joke more like 20% has been done and the rest of the money has found its way into there pockets!! Why is it always a racist thing with the ANCYL all the members werent even alive during the hard time and most of the members have better educations then 90% of South Africans black and white (well it doesn't look like they do but they do).

  • Don't Judge - 2011-04-07 11:42

Why does it have to be "Zille" vs "ANC"?? Surely as South Africans we should be concerned about what is most important for this country and its people and then analize who will make that happen... Our country needs to prosper under its leadership - and we need to chose the leader who is focussed on justice, prosperity and community and stop getting focused on white VS black, we're all equal. How long will it take this country to realize what we have and stop the hate and dissension!?! Respect and love each other as equals and build a country alongside each other, not fighting to break the other down...

  • michaelp1 - 2011-04-07 11:45

"....the ANC has done exceptionally well with regards to service delivery". This is the standard that we can expect from the ANC. If the delivery is sooo exceptional - why the protests? Our standards and morals are in rapid decline!

  • shakie - 2011-04-07 11:47

Surely within the eyes of the media and some comments here, the ANC has lost to the DA. But reality check will be on the 18th,it really doesnt matter how people try to derogate each other here on the net, what matters will be the results on the 18th and my the party that is supported more win free and fair based on HOW the voters view it.Remember, your opinion is your opinion and might not be what the majority of voters feel - so be prepared to deal with the reality of being in South Africa.

      Other Justin - 2011-04-07 14:02

I am realistic, I know the ANC is still going to win the vast majority of the municipalities and metros in the coming municiple election. What I am hoping for though, is great gains, by not only the DA, but ALL OPPOSITION parties in this country. A good democracy is measured by the strength of it's opposition politics.

Every person know that nothing is for free, nothing in life - there are just different ways of working for it, so stop telling lies that people think there are free things for life.U should differentiate between basic things which the government gives like building schools and clinicks for the community, surely u dont expect people to start building thier own hospitals, although it will not be demolished if u do that - but community vote for the party beliving it will build for them hospital and school - if u consider such basic need to be Africa's mentality blablablabla, then u are lost in life and should be ashem of yourself.Idiot.

      marden - 2011-04-07 15:07

this is exactly the problem... the community is forced(possibly and most probably with violence)to vote for the thugs. they are promised the earth and yet given pebbles. it is high time we wake up and smell the "sewers" because that is where these rats crawled out from.

  • Le sage - 2011-04-07 11:53

"The DA will never lead South Africa and no one in the movement should have such imaginations and because they are just that, IMAGINATIONS (sic)." Latest in the blunder records, time will tell...

  • Sparks_Spark - 2011-04-07 11:54

Oh Juju - Tick Tock Tick Tock, The day is coming when President Zille will be in power. If not Zille, it will be somebody from the DA for sure. When that happens, happy days will be here...

  • ShRoOm PoPsiCLe - 2011-04-07 12:04

Only a matter of time before we start seeing ANC posters which read 'WIT GEVAAR!'

  • zena - 2011-04-07 12:09

Just because you saying that already proves that she will make a good President and not because she is WHITE, not because she belongs to the DA, but because she stands for HONESTY, she stands for ALL and fights for the better of all SOUTH AFRICANS. Stop keeping your people poor by using race to keep them voting for a party that will never ever solve the problems of this country. Stop stealing from the poor to feed the rich. Imagination is something the ANC does not have as they don't want people imagining a better future. What type of role models speak such nonsense, do you think so little of your own kind that you would keep them from going forward and achieving knowledge!!!!!

  • Cosmic - 2011-04-07 12:14

    Never say never....

  • Frikkie1234 - 2011-04-07 12:19

hmm its amazing how much the ANC is starting to sound like the old NP party in the hight of apartheid? just saying....

  • geewiz - 2011-04-07 13:03

Anyone remember a guy called Tariq Aziz, from Iraq, who held a news conference denying that the saddam regime has fallen to the allied forces while all could see the Allied troops in the streets through an open window! Painful for some who lost loved ones there, but classic. The same thing now happening here, with all these useless utterances being made. The bottomline will speak, the people will speak, then what will you do about it? If you don't like the sound, or have the stomach to pronounce "President Zille", then - as famously put by Charles Nqacula - you are free to leave the country, kiddies.

  • Other Justin - 2011-04-07 13:06

Zille might never be president, but the ANC's days of numbered. Democracy is a funny thing. Eventually people see that their vote is valuable and that lending it to a political party that will ensure a better life for them is the best way. Why not vote DA? What do you have to lose? If they don't perform in your area, don't lend them your vote again. Is it not stupid to just keep voting for a party like the ANC even though they are not working for you? Zille may never be president, but that is OK, because the ANCYL will never be intelligent. I would rather vote for an intelligent party, THAT DOES NOT HAVE WHITE INTERESTS AT HEART, but the interests of the country and ALL OF ITS PEOPLE AT HEART than a bunch of uneducated thieving oxygen thieves. This is all the ANC and it's Young Liers can do, when threatened, play the race card. They accuse the DA of being a white party, when in fact it is the ANC and especially the ANCYL THAT ARE THE BIGGEST RACISTS ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET.

      jemo - 2011-04-07 14:46

@Other Justin whites will never rule this country again, you better find Jan van Reebek boat to sell you back home lol...

      Martin du Plessis - 2011-04-10 00:56

  • maseratifitt - 2011-04-07 13:07

  • neddy - 2011-04-07 13:40

The ANC are the biggest bunch of racists in the world. I wish they would all die.

      jemo - 2011-04-07 14:49

@neddy i understand you.. we felt in the same way when your grandfathers were in power

  • Martin - 2011-04-07 13:45

....many a year from now, the ANC will lose control over South Africa. I'm just wondering how the ruling party will react ONEDAY, when they have to hand over power!!!! In 500 years from now, it will still be apartheids fault....

      Martin - 2011-04-07 14:00

neddy, exactly my view. I think the same will as in Ivory Coast. It will be a much too bitter pill to swallow, and will go down swinging....and that leaves us back where it all began...apartheid!! Doomed till the end I tell you.

      Steve Wonderboy - 2011-04-09 16:01

It will be a bloodbath, especially if that Malema idiot is still around. If they think we will go quietly into the night they've got another thing coming though.

  • Valkyrie - 2011-04-07 14:03

Yes, those DA crooks! What an imagination I have, seeing all those fictitious services in place that give the illusion that they are working properly. I'm glad my eyes have been opened and I can now see the truth. Sheesh, for a moment there I believed what I was seeing but now that I know it's just a figment of my imagination...Ja right, dream on ANC, you people are masters at deception, the DA get my vote a zillion times over. Go President Zille!

  • koeksister - 2011-04-07 14:07

GO Zille!!!!!! I love backing the underdogs!!!!

  • unblind - 2011-04-07 14:09

Zille will spend the rest of her days in a minority opposition party. she will never lead south africa

      zena - 2011-04-07 14:22

nor will the ANC, not for long either..... open your eyes and get over the past, whoever runs this country should love the people and the land and want whats best for all......That is Zille!!!!

      Barry - 2011-04-07 15:47

      Zille for President

  • bailey.bubblesqueak - 2011-04-07 14:52

Floyd the F@ckhead... What a wanker...

  • cracknose - 2011-04-07 15:44

Chances are she will be murdered.

      Steve Wonderboy - 2011-04-09 15:57

Just wait for her to make some inroads. Only problem with that is that that would create a martyr that would cause the ANC to lose power so much quicker.

  • Hardtalk - 2011-04-07 15:51

The ANCYL can say what they like, it's the end produced that counts. The end produced is ZIM 2 because they have no brains. Call me what you like just remember in 10 years time when you are begging the whites to sort it out - IT WILL BE TO LATE - A CORRUPT GOVERNMENT WILL ALWAYS FALL.
