ANCYL leaders to submit appeals

2011-11-24 08:32

Johannesburg - Lawyers representing ANC Youth League leaders will submit appeals applications to the ANC national appeals committee, the Sowetan reported on Thursday.

ANCYL president Julius Malema, league spokesperson Floyd Shivambu, deputy president Ronald Lamola, treasurer general Pule Mabe, secretary general Sindiso Magaqa and deputy secretary general Kenetswe Mosenogi were found guilty and sanctioned by the ANC's national disciplinary committee (NDC) two weeks ago.

Malema was given a five-year suspension and told to vacate his position as president and Shivambu was suspended for three years and also told to vacate.

The other four leaders all had their youth league membership suspended for two years. This sanction was suspended for three years.

In its appeal, the league was expected to argue that it is independent from the African National Congress and that the NDC relied on the league's "old" constitution when it handed down its sentences.

The true culprit was identifies on

      Kolobe - 2011-11-24 09:49

Isn't there anything keeping you people busy in the da/ afriforum ? Shouldn't you be busy trying to recruit more as you an opposition that's as good as not being there(secrecy bill)?

      Travis - 2011-11-24 10:10

Another waste of time and tax payers money! Nobody wants you Juju, suck it up and get lost!

      Impi - 2011-11-24 10:21

@Barbicus. I come from an informal settlement and my cries for education helped me nothing. I had to mow lawns and wash cars to pay for my education. I don't ever hear the ANCYL or the ANC ever offer to fight for education in our country. The cries are all about taking stuff, waiting for stuff to be nationalised including the banks. I work for a bank and I have sobering news for you. If you nationalise the banks, are you thinking of looting the clients' accounts? What do the banks have to do with the poverty? Your currency will become worthless when you go on your nationalisation spree. If you had any guts or brains you wouldn't come sit here and post uneducated uninformed statements like this. Get back to school and go learn how economics work and then when you have enriched yourself with knowledge, come comment on here. You sound like Malema's parrot. Please explain to me, if you are a member of the ANCYL, that would then automatically make you a member of the ANC. What are you then? You protest against the mother body, and claim to be autonomous? Stop using the ANC brand name if you can't abide by their rules. But I guess all of this is a bit complicated for you to understand.

      jody.beggs - 2011-11-24 11:25

@Impi we need more hard working people like you well done. Damn the Man , Save South Africa !

  • DanielDennett - 2011-11-24 08:52

This appeal is going to be like farting against thunder. A technical appeal will not assist you guys especially having fraudulently altered your constitution.

      Maggyone - 2011-11-24 10:21

oh really! I am always wondering if news 24 have a contract with JUJU.JUJU is got the masses behind him.he is not going anywhere.if i was you [the enemies of JUJU] i would not jump before the drum beat

      Andrew - 2011-11-24 11:53

Please tell us all unenlightened- JuJu where do you want to sit? In the ANC or outside? You cannot be part of ANC for all your priviledges and not part where you dont like the outcome. Pray tell !!

      Felix - 2011-11-24 12:01

Maggyone, your facebook wall reads like that of a blind illiterate racist. Wake up, you are an individual, not a herd.

  • Traygon - 2011-11-24 09:08

All ANCYL documents are written in Crayon...

      TypeRSA - 2011-11-24 09:20

More like pencil. If something doesn't suit them they change it!! Bas-teds

      Felix - 2011-11-24 09:30

      you spelt *drawn wrong.

  • Musa - 2011-11-24 09:11

The young comrades are entitled to an appeal, as it was stated in ANC NDC verdict. Our young comrades must understand that the ANCYL is a structure of the ANC, they must stop defining themselves outside the practices and policies of the ANC. We should be focusing on service delivery rather than be stuck in disciplinary issues. It is the first time in the history of our movement that we have a youth league which poses itself as danger to the mother body, which infact should be defending the ANC from counter-revolutionary forces. You need to learn a lot from these disciplinary issues, young comrades. We also graduated from the ranks of the ANCYL which taught us organisational discipline and to participate in all ANC structiures with discipline and respect. Forward with revolutionary discipline in the ANC, forward!

      Thandi - 2011-11-24 10:24

It is the first time in the history of your movement that a 'missing-link' like fatboy has been allowed to gain so much influence and has been encouraged by the likes of showerhead, the evil-one, jap-scrap, and all their other cronies. Keep putting fatboy on a pedestal, and things like discipline will disappear out the window. Then you will realise what a monster has been created, and how much danger the 'mother body' is in.

      Dirk - 2011-11-24 10:25

@Musa - We said and that is precisely what the rest of SA understands as well. Mr Malema and his faction think however that they are above the law and above the policies of the ANC mother body. This is precisely the problem.

      Clive - 2011-11-24 15:43

Musa, to be frank my friend this wole debacle has nothing to do with Julius, nor with the ANCYL. It his everything to do with the elimination of those who were using him to derail JZ's succession aims next year. It also has much to do with the Arms Deal Inquiry. A serving President cannot be prosecuted so, if you think just a little, you will see that for JZ, another term is paramount. Simply put, JuJu does not have a hope in hell and it has nothing to do with the disciplinary charges; in that much at least he is 100% correct. He allowed himself to be used by Sexwale and the Pres' opponents, and now he is used by the Pres against those opponents. It's what happens when you sleep with snakes, ne?

  • Gammat - 2011-11-24 09:20

The ANCYL is turning Mandela's book "The long walk to freedom" into "The fast crawl to corruption".

      Sganja - 2011-11-24 09:24

Really? Mr Gammat who told you that?

      PB - 2011-11-24 09:27

Sganja, contrary to you, the rest of us can actually read, see and hear. We don't need to be spoonfed bs by the likes of juliaaaaaaaaaas

      Gammat - 2011-11-24 09:42

Take a hike James Scott aka Sganja. Go hug that handset at the call center. And stop smoking that weed, it's destroying the last few braincells you have.

      Gwayimbo - 2011-11-24 11:49

Why do you guys always assume sganja is working for the call centre??? I fail to understand your racists mentality.

  • DanielDennett - 2011-11-24 09:20

      Felix - 2011-11-24 09:33

In gangy's defence (I never read the first post but it sounds like it got heated) news24 often delete the first post as everyone posts on it to reach the top of the page and it often turns into a mud slinging match completely off topic.

      Sganja - 2011-11-24 09:36

Thanks Felix for the defence, I will but you two fiz-o pop (stock sweet) wow hope you will enjoy them.

      Gammat - 2011-11-24 09:43

James Scott (sganja) last time I checked the ANCYL has no white membership, so you are indeed a white troll.

      jody.beggs - 2011-11-24 11:32

@Sganja News24 don't take sides , readers report certain comments that are not valid, off topic , vulgar or just plain stupid. So if your comment is fair it will stay ! If not repost it ! that's all . Damn the Man .
