ANCYL piles more pressure on Motshekga

2012-07-29 20:02

Johannesburg - Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga should "do the noble thing" and resign, the ANCYL said on Sunday.

It also expected her to apologise to the nation for failing the young people of Limpopo, it said in a statement.

The African National Congress Youth League said it was extremely perturbed by the ongoing Limpopo textbook crisis.

"The African National Congress has committed itself to prioritising education," it said in a statement.

"Never, therefore, must tenders, service provider issues or bureaucratic bungles deny young people, our future, an opportunity to education."

This made a mockery of South Africa's hard won freedom.

It hoped the person who took over Motshekga's responsibilities would be "an individual who is decisive and truly committed to education", it said.

  • Squeegee - 2012-07-29 20:08

What the heck do the ANCYL know about doing "the noble thing"? Even if they are right in this case, its rich coming from them...

      sean.lambie.3 - 2012-07-29 20:09

ANCYL is just adding fuel to the fire ! I love it !

      scouter.fourone - 2012-07-29 20:26

The term 'noble' when uttered by the ANCYL, automatically implies an 'ignoble' agenda. If the lack of text books were not such an issue right now, I'd suggest that the entire ANCYL return to school to get a proper schooling but clearly that would constitute nonsensical advice whilst Education is still under ANC administration.

      Squeegee - 2012-07-29 20:35

What are they, the new opposition?

      devon.riley.52 - 2012-07-29 20:44

I am beginning to agree with the ANCYL lately, Zuma is useless, this mamma is useless.... Just a pitty all the talk of whites with ill gotten gains and nationalisation of mines and farms etc.

  • iceman196 - 2012-07-29 20:11

oh yeah right, sure spoilt brat brigade and you have done so much for education MORONS

  • Henk - 2012-07-29 20:12

Gotta love this bunch of idiots! You voted for them! Do not complain now. It is not Angies fault but your own. Go on onvote for them again!

      ishmael.valoyi - 2012-07-29 21:17

Can someone please explain to me how others seem to know who voted for who! i thought every one's vote is secrete.or are you assuming that if black then you voted for a certain party?

      pieriewaaier.zooms - 2012-07-29 21:55

@ ishmael.valoyi...It is quite obvious: He was referring to the Ancyl executives and members who, one can safey assume, are all aligned to the ANC hence they support them and voted for the ANC last time.

  • bernard.mackenzie.5 - 2012-07-29 20:12

The noble thing would have been for the minister get it right the first time. There is nothing noble about resigning because of outrageous incompetence. That just makes you useless, not noble.

      Raymond - 2012-07-30 08:33

      Bliksem, but she's fugly.

  • PaulGBoyd1 - 2012-07-29 20:26

Quote "It hoped the person who took over Motshekga's responsibilities would be "an individual who is decisive and truly committed to education", it said......They Certainly wont find anyone of that ilk within the ANC. Phone a friend and get the DA to sort it out!

  • mabhekana.nzuza - 2012-07-29 20:27

We are tired to hear headlines about this Limpompo, more corruption reported, it must be dissolves

      Sylvester.Mohloli - 2012-07-29 20:49

Where is Limpompo and when must it be dissolveS?

      Frank - 2012-07-29 21:13

Great name - Limpompo. It sounds like the whole of the ANC is screwing you, from Malema and his buddies to Zuma to the education dept. etc. Keep up the humerous comments.

  • lacrimose.wolf - 2012-07-29 20:30

Naive to expect someone who has not honoured her pledge to this country and the job she was hired to do, to suddenly grow a conscience. This is starting to smell like thinning the herd. I wonder who ANCYL want for the next (in a very long line) minister of education?

      jaysonpaul.beckwith - 2012-07-29 21:28

Its not what you know,, its who you know. That's the bottom line in the leadership of this country. Fu@#ing joke if you ask me.

  • Stewart Croucamp - 2012-07-29 20:35

Education in this country will never mean anything as long as the ANC tries to run this country. Bunch of idiots.

      jaysonpaul.beckwith - 2012-07-29 22:23

      Second that!

  • Amanda Mdoda - 2012-07-29 20:37

      Frank - 2012-07-29 21:01

What does this mean? Give them all free bananas?

  • rowan.maulson - 2012-07-29 20:39

No, the useless wench mustn't resign. She must be fired and then charged with whatever crimes we can, and throw her in jail. She should never be allowed a position of power ever ever ever ever again in my opinion.

      Frank - 2012-07-29 20:49

I like the idea of public beheading!

  • gareth.vorster.9 - 2012-07-29 20:42

This really is Youth League territory and they should have done more than sit on the sidelines and point fingers. If you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem. This mob cant be taken seriously when they requested that all students in Limpopo be exempt from writing exams, and pushed through. They miss the point of 'learning' altogether.

  • trevor.pietersen.3 - 2012-07-29 20:44

hang....they only woke up now????? the KFC...must have run out

  • Gerald Jordaan - 2012-07-29 20:49

Motshekga will cling onto the gravy train until physically thrown off AND NOT B 4 !! Malema WHERE R U ??

      Raai.wie - 2012-07-29 21:21

Frank you can't insult animals like that. 1. They feed what they breed. 2. They don't destroy as far as they go. 3. Animals are a man's best friend. Mal-moer don't fall in that category.

      jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-07-30 12:09

Frank, shame on you. All animals in the London Zoo has a pedigree.

  • ron.hobson.313 - 2012-07-29 20:53

The President should do the honourable thing

      jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-07-30 12:10

Ron, President and honourable do not go together.

  • thabo.swafo - 2012-07-29 20:55

She must resign now this woman.Actualy she must be sued for that. She is so cruel. How can she sabotaging our province like that?just because she is in Zumas faction,so she just betray the education of our children?

  • sikhulile.nkwelo - 2012-07-29 20:59

BREATH OF FRESH AIR ANCYL - Talking about issues affecting \YOUNG PPL\. As a pp I also call on thr minister to do humble thing Resign as she has failed to do her JOB.

  • akhona.mashaya - 2012-07-29 21:14

Why do white people tie the DA with intellect and the ANC with stupidity?

      Raai.wie - 2012-07-29 21:17

Maybe because it's true. The anc can't supply books thereby take away education thereby creating uneducated scholars. Also called stupid. You happy now?

      thapelo.maleka.94 - 2012-07-29 21:43

it started with bee implementation for whites to show their true colour

      Gerda Malherbe - 2012-07-29 23:08

      Because its true, what else

      grant.olivier.92 - 2012-07-30 05:49

Because people think that falling for the media agenda is the same thing as having an opinion.

      tobydt - 2012-07-30 06:47

akhosa - Cadre deployment dude. Thats why. Somehow the dumb and the corrupt get deployed to critical government positions. Question the ANC cadre policies.

      nigel.vanysendyk - 2012-07-30 08:04

because its a proven fact, while the DA are fighting to create jobs & employment, the stupid ANC are sabotaging their own voters education...sounds pretty stupid to me.

      jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-07-30 12:12

      Akhona, we see nothing else.

  • slritchie - 2012-07-29 21:22

  • thapelo.maleka.94 - 2012-07-29 21:27

not only in goverment u find people working to pay debt nd start to relax once permanent.

  • Frank - 2012-07-29 21:32

I am convinced that the ANC has got no worthy replacements for someone like Angie. Judging from her responses, her IQ is about 95 which lies in the top 1% of all ANC comrades. Why not replace her with someone who obviously can't do the job, but at least has good looks. Any hot blondes in the ANC? Or maybe Vavi with a blonde wig? Even better, advertise the job and let Zuma interview the incumbents. He can test-drive them for future availability at the same time!

      jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-07-30 12:15

Frank, Angie is a loyal supporter of Zuma, he needs her in Mangaung. She is the leader of the ANCWL and her husband has a high flying position in the party or government. Angie will not be fired. Maybe send somewhere else, Home Affairs? or an Ambassadorial post will wait. Strange the ANCWL is very quiet aren't they?.

  • Sharmay - 2012-07-29 22:00

Resigning is a voluntary act which implies that she would still have a choice to stay.. She should be removed by force. Fire the incompetent woman. Kids in Limpopo are going to be affected by her crap work for the rest of their lives.

  • Oom Kosie - 2012-07-29 22:02

    Pretty face! Nice hat!

  • CORNHOLIO - 2012-07-29 22:26

  • Jane Mdakane - 2012-07-30 06:01

  • Anele - 2012-07-30 06:49

She must go including the MEC dikson they are just useless people

  • luckyz.matyolo - 2012-07-30 06:55

Zuma's leadership is stupid they bring division among th party.

      nigel.vanysendyk - 2012-07-30 08:11

its not about one man, when Zuma goes, the ANC will still be lost & struggling, the fighting will continue until the greed for power & money ends & they start serving the people, till then they will continue to put themselves 1st the the country second.

  • Zuks Mtshana Nohaji - 2012-07-30 06:57

Seemingly minister of education is undermining the nation at large, she is a disgrace and immoral Leader. As young people we cnt suffer by just silly tendencies, we want free education now and proper management of state resources

  • winifred.watson.9 - 2012-07-30 07:27

Asking her to do the noble thing........whats noble about her.....thats asking her to jump off the gravvvvvvy train, Never never never, this says our pressie, verwoerd is to blame, he sabotaged the education system and verwoerd and van riebeck are in conspiracy against them. No No No, Angie is doing a fine job, she will bring plenty votes to the table so leave her alone, definetly aparthed to blame for this.

  • Blackpoison - 2012-07-30 07:49

For once I agree with the ANCYL

      nigel.vanysendyk - 2012-07-30 08:09

yea, but they only say things to suit their own agenda, tomorrow they will be contradicting themselves, ready to die for someone else.

  • nigel.vanysendyk - 2012-07-30 08:01

The baby leave are only attacking Motshekga because she is a Zuma ally, if she was not, then they would be threatening to die for her.

  • tony.naidoo - 2012-07-30 08:18

The ANCYL should lead by example. Do the honourable thing and RESIGN (en bloc) !

  • james.otter.10 - 2012-07-30 08:59

It was screwed up before she became involved. However she did not cover herself with glory when she became involved. There appears to be some thing rotten in the state of Limpopo that goes beyond text books, that needs to be fixed.

  • luke.dekoker - 2012-07-30 09:20

If she resignes and apologise only it will be not be good enough, she must be FIRED with conditions that she, her boss, service providers & comrades pay back the huge backhanders/bribes they must have scored. Please also keep it in a kitty for the next cadre to take home so that the taxpayers do not pay again!!

  • Michael - 2012-07-30 09:21

The minister must take overall responsibility and resign, even if she was not directly involved in the fiasco, the fact that this is happening under her leadership its a clear indication that she is not leaading, but the same goes to Cassell Mathale and Dickson, i dont understand why he is still the Premier of limpopo, that is my problem with President Zuma, he delays corrective action, exactly what happened to Malema, what else does he want to see from Cassell?
