ANCYL reinstates Mabe

2013-01-28 20:44

Johannesburg - The ANC Youth League has reinstated its Treasurer-General Pule Mabe.

"The national executive committee acknowledged that no proper process was followed in the removal of comrade Pule and resolved, therefore, to reinstate him to his position unconditionally," the ANCYL said in a statement on Monday.

"The NEC also congratulated comrade Mabe on his election to the national executive committee of the ANC."

Mabe was removed from his position in May last year following a vote of no confidence.

The decision to reinstate Mabe was taken at an NEC meeting held over the weekend at St George’s Hotel in Irene, south of Pretoria.

The ANCYL acknowledged it had failed to have sanctions against axed leader Julius Malema and others lifted at the ANC conference in Mangaung last year.

"The 53rd National Conference, the highest decision-making body of the ANC, was to be the final arbiter in this matter," the league said.

"We accept and respect the outcome of the national conference, thus bringing the matter to finality."

Malema was expelled from the ANC last year.

Sindiso Magaqa and Floyd Shivambu were suspended.

Deputy President Ronald Lamola has led the ANCYL since then.

Malema sent the ANC conference a letter asking for his job back, but at the time party Secretary-General Gwede Mantashe said it had been received too late, and that the programme had already been adopted.

The ANC and ANCYL met last week to discuss issues within the league, after a resolution was taken at the Mangaung conference.

"Work has already commenced in earnest to assess the state of the organisation and the NEC continues to grapple with the critical question of the capacity and potential of the youth league leadership to rebuild the organisation and unite all youth behind the vision of the ANC," the ANCYL said.

@SaniGhana You should not feel ashamed of the Youth League.. They represent our Youth as they stand today .. The DA may look good, with their lovely accets and Mountain views... But the real Youth of SA are unemployed, poorly educated.

      hein.huyser - 2013-01-29 06:49

Why Difa, have you not had enough of racism and divisions in South Africa? Or are you on the gravy-train and know the only way your curse can stay in power is by racism and hate? Sis man, wake up, we haveademocracy with a constitution. We do not need dictators and racists to steal the voters blind while they suffer and only a few benefit. Maybe you are a bee appointee and know that when real democracy comes you will be exposed as one that only got his position because of your skin color and because of your acumen and abilities? Please do tell

The ANCYL got a massive shock when their mother body threatened to disband them. Since then they've been saying yes baas no baas to anything that the ANC says. By the way, what happened to that moonsamey character? After threatening to make WC ungovernable she just dissapeared off the grid. Strange.

      Killbot79 - 2013-01-29 09:37

Dubula - we know, it takes a while for you to understand

  • Joe - 2013-01-29 01:51

Honestly when I see the acronymn ANCYL my brain tends to blot out the rest. It shies away from the inevitable crazy talk that follows. I get images of berserks frothing at the mouth, spouting obscenities and throwing the race card around like there's an endless supply in my mind. I know its a bit off topic, but it was the first thing that came to mind.

  • hein.huyser - 2013-01-29 06:41

Ofcoarse Phule must come back, he knows how the finances were put up to enrich the few select in ancyl. And then there is the small matter of Malemas house in Sandton that needs to be paid. Wonder what province will they target to bancrupt this time?
