Agri SA seeks cool ANC heads

Johannesburg - Cool heads are needed at the ANC's policy conference this week, Agri SA said on Monday.

"If aspects like corruption, poor service delivery by government and the inability to implement sound policies - also pertaining to land reform - are not addressed, the conference will without doubt be an exercise in futility", said Agri SA president Johannes Moller.

He said introspection by the African National Congress was needed to tackle complicated issues like land reform.

The conference should also focus on economic growth, including the economic well-being of the agricultural sector.

Moller said the agricultural sector could help the country by, among other things, helping to create employment, relieve food insecurity and promote rural development.

Agri-SA would participate in a forum for business, which would run concurrently with the policy conference.

"We will definitely make use of the opportunity to engage with Cabinet ministers and other government representatives on matters confronting our sector and the country at large", he said.

The ANC meets in Midrand for four days from Tuesday to discuss 13 policy documents ahead of its national conference in December.

The policy decisions made at the policy conference will be discussed and finalised at the national conference in Mangaung, Free State, in December.

These policies will form the basis for the ANC government's policies, new laws or amended laws.

simple really it is called scorched earth. burn this year’s entire harvest to the ground and kill all livestock and watch how the advancing warring masses starve to death. then we will see where the real power lies; with the uneducated ‘demandas’ and corrupt ‘give me nows’, or the providers and suppliers? As it has been so nicely put by the ancyl the whites can all just go to Europe or Australia, not so sure that they will invite with open arms 60 million starving black Africans. could be wrong though and the first world has changed its immigration polices

..Not warmongering..but thinking logical..We, the non blacks have at a guestimate about 1 million extremely well guerilla trained men Perhaps a bit older but also wiser. Dont for one minute think that they will sit quitely and just let you take whatever you like or want. Actions have consequences and unless there is a reasonable win - win situation put in place, there will be repurcussions which are too ghastly to contemplate. So.. the bottom line is: there had better be an equitable solution found or there is bound to be retribution for any act which will threaten the peaceful situation we are all hoping for. God forbid that our veterans take to arms and we can only pray that it wont come to that.
