Pretoria - Disgruntled supporters of axed Limpopo premier Cassel Mathale have accused the ANC task team of appointing former Cope members to rebuild the organisation in the province.

The Sunday Independent reported that it has seen a letter written to an ANC national executive committee member, Ruth Bhengu, deployed to Limpopo, which alleges infiltration by former Cope members.

Mathale’s supporters are taking advantage of the rift forming between Bhengu and the provincial task team (PTT) , which was constituted after the ANC dissolved Mathale’s provincial executive.

Mathale loyalists say: “Former Cope leaders have been appointed to be part of the crucial structures of the movement assigned the mammoth task to rebuild and unite the ANC.”

The task of rebuilding and reuniting the organisation needs loyal members of the ANC who never abandoned the movement to join the enemy forces.”

Bhengu however refused to comment. “Internal matters
of the ANC remain with the ANC. I am not going to talk about that,” she said.
