Corrupt insiders out to destroy ANC: Mabuza

2011-10-31 21:20

Mbombela - Mpumalanga ANC chairperson and Premier David Mabuza believes certain members within the ruling party are out to destroy the ANC.

Mabuza was speaking during the ANC's provincial launch of the party’s 2012 centenary celebrations at the Mpumalanga provincial legislature in Mbombela on Monday.

“Some in the [ANC’s] house don’t deserve to be called comrade. What they do at night, when no one can see them, is to plot to destroy the movement,” said Mabuza.

Mabuza said he would not name anyone involved in the plot, but has learned to keep quiet for the "sake of unity".

“They are corrupt and they do it with passion. We have a lot of people in the [ANC] family, people who are good and bad. They are here and we have to live with all of them.

“From the time I took over as ANC chairman in the province I have matured everyday like wine,” Mabuza said.

He added that he and his supporters had consolidated power by securing victories in three ANC regional conferences in the province this past month.

Bohlabela, Ehlanzeni and Gert Sibande have all elected new regional executive committees while the Nkangala region held its regional conference last year.

Mabuza said he is happy with the outcomes of the regional conferences and stressed there is unity in the party in the province.

Asked whether he would stand for a second term as provincial chairperson, Mabuza just laughed off the question.

“We get drunk with power and leaders think this chair belongs to me, the ANC belongs to the masses,” said Mabuza.

“The ANC is too big, it will never be destroyed.”

  • Morne - 2011-10-31 21:33

Bull, its the leaders themselves destroying the ANC. And it starts from the top.

      Donovan - 2011-10-31 21:55

This Mabuza fellow is one of the warlords himself, so he should know.

      Michael - 2011-10-31 22:04

Now that's what I call bull @Morne. We are finally witnessing our democracy at work - that's what you get when peeps won't toe the "party line" when they see things happening that just aren't right. Gotta love it :-)

      Witbooi - 2011-10-31 23:01

@Morne - 100% boet. And the leader - Jacob Showerkop Zooomer got to the top after a corrupt relationship with one Shabir Almost dead Shaik. Mybooozer - you are the master of stating the obvious - idiot....

      Mike - 2011-10-31 23:02

@Michael, Please! When this loud mouth actually starts naming and prosecuting the corrupt elements rather than using the standard diversionary tactic of "somebody stole the money but we don't know who" then I will actually consider your point of view, until then he is just as corrupt as the rest of them as he condones the crimes through his inaction.

      Servaas - 2011-11-01 09:09

And when this finally happens guess who they going to blame? Apartheid..

      Myvision - 2011-11-01 10:44

Its amazing that these corrupt elements he's complaining about have left him very rich

  • Kate - 2011-10-31 21:33

      Servaas - 2011-11-01 09:13

      Or in this case, fatter.

  • Koos - 2011-10-31 21:33

Get rid of the bad ones comrade. Keep the ANC clean. "to keep quiet for the "sake of unity"." might not always be the right option - the they are still there - next to you.

      Chop - 2011-10-31 21:51

I agree. As Mabuza puts it, it seems he, and many others like him, are not proponents for unity, but merely hiding the core of this rotten party. The ANC has two roads it can take now: expose and get rid of all that is corrupt within the party, or just pretend that nothing is wrong and wait for it to destroy itself. Yes, airing your dirties will be painful and perhaps fatal, but at least you won't be taking as many innocent bystanders down with you. Looking at some headlines it does seem like the ANC is busy spring-cleaning a bit. Keep it up.

As for as the last comment- there's a very good movie out "Too Big to Fail" ( ), not to mention the what was said of the Titanic (which incidentally sunk in the same year ANC was founded). Not advocating superstition- merely saying size by itself is no proof or guarantee of anything.

  • braamc - 2011-10-31 21:41

This is coming from the premier of one of the most corrupt provinces, along side Juliass's mates from Limpopo. The stupidity and absolute arrogance of this thieve just beyond me. Rot in hell your piece of sh*t

  • Mike - 2011-10-31 21:46

The ANC, like anyother grouping will continue to experience generational and situational hiccups, that does not make it a monster. In fact, it will be upnormal to have a perfect grouping especially of its size. I mean even a small group of two members ( husband and wife ) do experience this tension. That said, the members are perfectly entitled to comtinue to question and debate within the established organisational structures. The premier is right, there are good and bad comrades, but let them remain within the structures as they may mature along the way. Just as much as the Premier " matured like wine" on a daily basis.

      braamc - 2011-10-31 22:55

"they are experiencing generational and situational hiccups" dude must be joking - the thieves have already stolen R30b of our tax money - rotten from top to bottom

      jody.beggs - 2011-11-01 09:31

The problem is that Sh1t doesn't mature , it decomposes into a smelling mess that others have to clean up, not enjoy like wine ! to quote "They are corrupt and they do it with passion. We have a lot of people in the [ANC] family, people who are good and bad. They are here and we have to live with all of them. Criminals "Mature" into better criminals , just get rid off them !

  • Dave - 2011-10-31 21:47

The festering mess that the ANC Hierarchy has become must break Madiba's heart.

  • Bill - 2011-10-31 22:18

Like the rest of Africa...just history repeating itself...!

  • Anthony - 2011-10-31 22:18

And so they shall fall..... and not by blaming other ethic races or *other external factors* for thier failures. Its brilliant to finally see the leading party tear themselves from the inside out ANC vs ANC ,txt me if u want a season pass for the sellout event... democracy here we come!

  • Sean - 2011-10-31 22:25

@Chop: The spring cleaning is just the long (political) knives out ahead of the next caucus. Why else would the prez suddenly wake up now after dodging any decision making for the last 3 years?

  • BOKKOM - 2011-11-01 03:46

"Matured like wine "......nee skattie, in you case it is sour grapes.Your friends in ANCYL always reports about "faceless" rumours. Why dont do mention these "faceless" people, or dont you have the bollies ?

  • Kevin - 2011-11-01 06:25

Any good law abiding citizen who loves SA would want to see the anc destroyed. No good person can vote for corruption, fraud ,family tenders , abuse of state funds and so the list goes on

  • Peter - 2011-11-01 07:48

Now the "good" guys, who want the reform and to get rid of the corruption that is rife in the ANC, are being labled as corrupt!!!!, Bluddy hypocrits.

  • Felix - 2011-11-01 07:53

The masses may not know it but they don't want the anc, they want their basic services and work.

  • Nigel - 2011-11-01 08:07

a fish rots from the head, the ANC is a big fish with a big rotten head.

  • Paas - 2011-11-01 08:14

Talk about the pot calling the kettle smutty!!! Mabuza, tell us about your ex wife's involvement in the tender of the Provincial Archives building (contractor: Lumkani Construction (ex-wifeys company) / builder: Steffanuti Stocks). You are a despicable creature trying to divert attention away from yourself, pertified the Hawks will next focus on you when finished with your comrade Cassel in Limpopo.

  • Tlou - 2011-11-01 10:11

Your statement is quiet correct Mnaka.

  • Cheryl - 2011-11-01 10:48

you are all corrupt and r making people like malema look clever....

  • Willem - 2011-11-01 11:15

The ANC is doing the job themselves. The way that the ministers and hanger on's go about being the ruling party will catch up with the ANC.

  • Avenant - 2011-11-01 14:41

Is that not what they said about the titanic also??

  • thabiso.motsoeneng1 - 2011-11-01 15:32

i cant agree with you more, want to refer u to one of Lenins writing " the role of Discipline in the Party" you will better understand the divisive role played by factions in destroying our movement.

      mastersvoice - 2011-11-01 16:05

So how did that work out for the Soviet Union then? Wasn't he the guy that murdered countless of his own people? Something to look forward to then...

  • folivier1 - 2011-11-01 15:32

LOL!!! Its all you can's a circus!!

  • mastersvoice - 2011-11-01 15:57

What Mabuza is really saying, is that South Africans are stupid, and will always support the ANC, even if the ANC proves to be a corrupt, self-serving group of fat-cats. He is actually saying they are comfortable with their track record of non-delivery, and that the corruption is perfectly acceptable, because they are to big to be destroyed and are therefore untouchable.

  • Mziwandile - 2011-11-01 16:18

@donovan, michael, witbooi, servas, braamc and company, what's it like living were you live, hanging out with whoever you hangout with, and talking about what youré posting on these blogs?

      Denisa - 2011-12-08 15:22

Just imagine how many lives could have been altered to the positive side with 30 bil..... The ANC dont give a damn, if they did give a damn they would have stopped this self enrichment policies, and started channeling the money to housing and schools. Parties are more important then people... dont you know?

  • michael.e.bowery - 2011-11-01 19:27

David Mabuza, for what ever reason, it can't happen soon enough, we've all had enough of this rotten corrupt government except the sheep who will protest about service delivery and still go and vote for it.

  • Nobukhosi - 2011-11-01 23:41

How nice that the very ANC has fought for some to gain citizenship /recognition in their very own country, our ancestors never had a chance,to criticise then government. From Oliver/Mandela/Thabo ANC and others allow criticism. I guess they should take their next 100-200 years to turn th things out.ha.ha

  • George - 2011-12-08 15:01
