Cosatu has questions to answer - ANCYL

Johannesburg - Cosatu must answer critical questions about the role it is playing in transformation in South Africa, during its 11th national conference, the ANC Youth League said on Monday.

"It is our wish that the delegates at the workers' parliament will be fearless in their resolve to craft policy that will decisively shift the balance of forces away from the exploitative and oppressive system...," the ANCYL said in a statement.

It said it shared the Congress of SA Trade Union's (Cosatu) disappointment about what had happened since the ANC's 2007 national congress in Polokwane.

"We have yet to see the change we jointly envisioned. Instead, we are faced with the emergence of a new predatory elite determined to enrich itself at the expense of a coherent political project underpinned by strong and decisive leadership."

The ANCYL wished Cosatu well during its four-day conference being held in Midrand, Johannesburg.

It supported Cosatu's "principled stance" and called on delegates to reject attempts to create a two-tier labour market, as was proposed by the youth wage subsidy.

"Young people want decent work and not tax incentives to business [which] are neither sustainable nor desirable," it said.

During the conference Cosatu will elect new leaders. Its general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi will stand for another term.

The ANCYL said it hoped Cosatu delegates would vote without fear or favour and would elect leaders who would rise to the challenges.

When will the moronic ANCYL be finally disbanded and relaced by an alternative league, where an IQ of over 70% is required for members to be eligible. A letter from a pschologist will also be required to confirm that they have mentally left their pubic years, and have a minimum number of attributes assocoiated with a normally developed adults brain.

The ancyl said in a statement, but what they actually meant was; "We have yet to see the change we jointly envisioned. Instead, we are faced with the emergence of a new predatory elite (TO BE ELECTED IN DECEMBER) to enrich itself at the expense of US in the ancyl.

Me thinks it is time that the ANCYL members find jobs and start working and paying taxes.

How can the ANCYL be taken seriously with statements like that when their very own leader is one of the predatory elite who has millions in ill gotten gains stashed away and never work a day in his life to earn it. Winning bogus tenders is not an honest way of earning cash when that money could have been used to benefit the poor or South Africa. The youth league is as corrupt as the ANC.
