DA focuses on Gauteng

2013-08-12 09:01

The focus of the Democratic Alliance's campaign for the 2014 general elections will be on Gauteng, says Mmusi Maimane.WATCH

Johannesburg - The DA's national spokesperson Mmusi Maimane launched the party's Gauteng election campaign on Saturday.

Maimane unveiled the Democratic Alliance's "Believe Bus Tour" which aims to "listen to every citizen" it meets over the next month.

"This is the first leg of our journey to bring change to this province," Maimane said in Alexandra, Johannesburg.

He said the bus would travel to communities including Tembisa, Soshanguve, Sharpeville, Mamelodi and Orange Farm.

"In this campaign I will be setting out my plans to create hundreds of thousands of jobs in Gauteng. But first I want to talk to the people of Gauteng. And I want to listen," he said.

Maimane outlined what he believed were the areas that needed the most attention in the province.

"We will open up Gauteng for business. Not to help rich people get richer. We will do it to help businesses - big and small - to start and grow so that they can create jobs."
