DA wants to win KZN in 2014

2012-03-17 21:06

Pietermaritzburg - The DA wants to win as many municipalities in KwaZulu-Natal as it can with a view to winning the province in the 2014 national election, party leader Helen Zille said on Saturday.

The DA increased their support with over 170 000 new DA voters between 2006 and 2011 in KwaZulu-Natal, Zille said in her speech prepared for delivery at the party's provincial congress in Ladysmith.

KwaZulu-Natal was the only province in South Africa where the ANC gained support during the last local election.

"Nowhere else in the country do so many people vote for opposition parties. More people in KwaZulu-Natal have already voted for a party other than the ANC than anywhere else in South Africa," she said.

She added that the DA wanted to be the official opposition in the province in 2014.

  • Simnikiwe - 2012-03-17 21:14

    LOL HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!...what a joke!...DA? KZN?...LOL that will never happen!

      Simnikiwe - 2012-03-17 21:16

Helen is a very funny woman.

      Ken - 2012-03-17 21:18

"She added that the DA wanted to be the official opposition in the province in 2014"

      Simnikiwe - 2012-03-17 21:21

Lol Ken, there's a limit to how much one can dream. You don't dream impossible dreams. Its like trying to talk to a wall and expecting it to reply, that wont happen, you 're only making a fool of yourself. DA is very funny!

      pws69 - 2012-03-17 21:26

With CT, you got that wrong With WC, you got that wrong Mmm.

"First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."

      pws69 - 2012-03-17 21:35

      @Assis, :-)

      Simnikiwe - 2012-03-17 21:42

Assis, just look at the demographic composition of KZN, then look at the demogarphic composition of DA voters, and tell me DA will govern KZN.

      Silver - 2012-03-17 21:43

Thanks for lending us the Westen Cape, sure you wont mind lending us the Northern Cape and Gauteng in 2014 as well. Funny how DA voters grew from 51% to 61% and currently winning new ANC wards in by-elections as well.

      Simnikiwe - 2012-03-17 21:46

Silver, those voters were part of the whole package too, we loaned them to you.

      John - 2012-03-17 21:48

Simnikiwe is the "missing link" in evolution. Please don't throw stones at hims. Bravo Simnikiwe, Bravo. You did it again. To increase your popularity please press Alt+F4 That was difficult request....Ok, take out your "cattle plug cable" to the kitchen. (That might work)

      Silver - 2012-03-17 21:53

you obviously aren't in sales my man.. but thanks nontheless, you seem to have a good heart

      Simnikiwe - 2012-03-17 21:55

I did press Alt + F4 and nothing happened.

      John - 2012-03-17 21:58

Bravo failed on the test. Now you can shutdown your comp from the plug.

At some stage the electorate if the have one iota of brains they will say to this parody of a ruling party exactly what you avatar suggests

      Cracker - 2012-03-18 00:25

@ Simnikiwe As for your lending the WC to the DA, thanks for your compassion towards the people in that area. Now why withdraw the compassion?

      Tony - 2012-03-18 07:00

Simstinky Is quite preoccupied with the DA... Mmmmmm ... Says a lot.

      Ian - 2012-03-18 08:34

what a toss, f off troll

      Leon - 2012-03-18 08:50

the problem with you comments, simnikiwe and friends, are that you do not put logical arguments to state you rcase, but rather ridicule and dream about it. it appears that you believe a victory for the DA means a victory for whites, or for woman, but the reality is that the DA did not achieve it status as official opposition in south africa, nor did it take municipalities from the ANC, without gaining a non-white voter base. SO you ridicule your own brothers and sisters and insult them. if the DA wins, it will be because the majority chose them, not because ther majority lost to the minority.

      Nibiru - 2012-03-18 09:11

Simnikiwe's avatar says everything about the person

      Janice - 2012-03-18 10:07

      Piet - 2012-03-18 11:47

Simnikine one day when you die from hunger in this country, remember you could have changed it by voting for the DAwe, o

      Gerhard - 2012-03-19 11:33

Sim the facts are staring you in the eye, yet you are in denial.

      Phuti - 2012-03-19 15:26

Sometimes laughter is the best medicine,DA winning KZN wht a joke.

      stefan.vanderspuy - 2012-03-19 16:02

This guy's a troll, ignore him.

  • Sganja - 2012-03-17 21:18

    Forget Madam....

      Alfred - 2012-03-18 17:48

You can laugh it up all you like but the fact is that it will happen sooner or later because you ANC simpletons are completely and utterly incapable of voting for anyone other than the likes of Alpha Shelembe who you've just elected as the ANC regional chairperson in KZN. Shelembe boasts the usual ANC credentials ie. been charged with corruption, fraud and money laundering. It's actually quite pathetic that that's the best you useless louts have to offer.

      Joseph - 2012-03-19 15:31

@ Sganja - nice pic, suits you well and your mentality. SUPER WOW!!! you made my day!

  • Sganja - 2012-03-17 21:19

KZN people have brain they won't vote for someone who fake her face.

      Jason - 2012-03-17 22:52

yes because that's important? Don't think DA have a chance in the KZN main reason education level is too low. ANC haven't covered themselves in glory in KZN so opportunity for additional votes forever wants them.

      Matthew Patrick - 2012-03-18 00:13

As opposed to someone who ANC cadres who fake leadership skills or intelligence?

      Lion - 2012-03-18 07:39

Her Face may be fake but her intentions are real you idiot. YOUR leaders may have real faces but their intentions.... That's a different story. Now take your fake brain and piss off.

      Nigel - 2012-03-18 08:01

no the Zulus are getting tired of the ANC

      TheJaydedKing - 2012-03-19 11:04

Sganja - If they had a brain how did the ANC get into power?

      Sandra - 2012-03-19 15:24

If they vote someone who fakes their hair, they can vote someone who fakes her face

  • Silver - 2012-03-17 21:19

This is really bad journalism.. Winning the province is not the same as wanting to be the official opposition. I agree, it would be a stupid statement saying the DA can win KZN (in 2014).

      sikhumbuzok - 2012-03-17 23:11

Its pretty obvious to me that the nfp is the official opposition in kzn. They dislodged the ifp. Who says those voters will leave nfp. Or will anc voters leave? I was born and lived in kzn for a very long tym. My ppl wont vote da that i can assure you. Neither will they be taken in by politicians speaking english in model c accents.

  • Sganja - 2012-03-17 21:20

In summary Zille go and sleep

      Marie - 2012-03-17 23:18

Oh please's wayyyyyyy past your bed-time....

      Lion - 2012-03-18 07:41

No wonder you reason like you do. I can just see that by your Avatar.

      Nigel - 2012-03-18 08:02

      & you are just sheep

  • Quentin - 2012-03-17 21:36

I think the more votes the DA gets - the better off SA and all her people will be - irrespective of the gender of our next president -

  • pws69 - 2012-03-17 21:37

Do I sense fear in the increasingly hysterical ramblings of the ANC rabble posting here?

      Hugo - 2012-03-17 22:20

      sikhumbuzok - 2012-03-17 23:12

      Matthew Patrick - 2012-03-18 00:15

There's been the fear in the ANC for the passed few years that they could lose KZN & Gauteng.

      Phuti - 2012-03-19 15:33

People have the rights to choose their leaders but I have noticed that the so called educated on this forum equates that with stupidity.Education should make people to reason logically without resorting to insults but it is not with the so called educated on this forum.

  • John - 2012-03-17 21:43

Bafana Bafana wants to win next world cup. I think News24 has special tendency in reporting. I think the biggest joke here is Simnikiwe from (George) Eastern Cape commenting Kwazulu Natal.

      Simnikiwe - 2012-03-17 21:52

Uhm george is in WC bro, you an idiot. Im from george WC and currently living in P.E but that doesn't mean i can't comment on KZN politics.

      John - 2012-03-17 21:54

Sorry....was missleaded by your IP and your educational level. How is Port Elizabeth?

  • Carlton Bana - 2012-03-17 22:11

Detractors relax, the DA has realised that KZN is the reason why ANC gets over 65%, if the IFP were still as strong as they were during the 90s and early 2000s; they would be in the 50s by now. Forgive them for being bullish, its because no other party wants it enough. Spread the word help DA get 2 million new voters, make FB pages do what you can we change our country. 2014 DA wins NC, 2016 PE, Pretoria ect are rested from the ANC, 2019 a DA GOVERNS SA. Afterward vote for who ever

      Lion - 2012-03-18 07:50

My friend Carlton... I am happy to see that you are positive about 2019. I hope you are right and I am with you on positive change. Hopefully something can be salvaged by then. I am afraid the way it is going now South Africa, we as the public have allowed all the bullsh@t to go too far already. We have allowed the ANC to strap a suicide vest around us and they sit with the remote control. The ANCYL calls for civil war in everything they say and let me tell you, if this goes down the sh@t will be sorted way before 2019. I hope you are right.

  • Wanda Zonke - 2012-03-17 22:15

forget it, not everybody is fooled by Helen Zille pretense, dancing with black people, and hugging their kids and hiring them to be in management, buying them bread does mean you are for them, all Helen Zille wants is votes, the would be the worst mistake South Africa can make...not becuase she is a woman, but because she is Helen Zille.

      John - 2012-03-17 22:21

Wanda....agree 100% with you. What will you suggest? What options we all have?

      Jessica - 2012-03-17 22:23

Well she managed to make to WC work. The only province in SA. She had to build WC up after the DA lost it to ANC who destroyed it. Face it the madam knows how to govern and make sure you clean the house properly :)

      Jason - 2012-03-17 23:02

Wanda how do you make a difference with votes without votes you can't make a difference, Zuma does the same thing. In politics you use the media and make the right noises. DA members are just not caught up in Corruption scandals the last one I recall was with the travel scandal was suspended without pay. ANC members still continued and still are regardless. The point is clean audits, increase in education levels in the western cape are all good for her. If you not going to vote for her because she is white and hugging black kids think you are the one with the issues not her.

      Derrick - 2012-03-17 23:10

As a ex Gautenger now living in KZN who visits WC - believe me there is no comparison with this rest of this decrepit, corrupt nation the rest of us are living in - that woman has BALLS

      gouws2 - 2012-03-17 23:35

@Wanda Zonke Hellen Zille fought more for your freedom and accomplished more than your current leaders!

      gouws2 - 2012-03-17 23:36

      Read a f@cking book FFS

      Matthew Patrick - 2012-03-18 00:43

@Jason, as an auditor I couldn't agree more. The checks, balances and controls need to be in place for effective governance. It's a sad fact but at the moment the DA seems to be the only party achieving this.

      Juan - 2012-03-18 03:09

Judged by the rampant corruption within the ANC, and the collapse of service delivery around ANC territory, one could say the exact thing about the ANC. The comrades on the gravy train only worry about the own wallets and what they can plunder next, while the poor are suffering. I really don't care what the ANC does to their voters, as long a they stay the hell out of the Western Cape, I'm a happy camper

      John - 2012-03-18 06:00

Well... Than I can't be more agree with everyone that Helen Zille and DA is the only logical choice. WC doesn't share the fiasco of Limpopo. Well done DA.

      Piet - 2012-03-18 11:51

Yeah wanda, sorry we do not ahnd out streetwise twos like the anc...yea

      Christopher - 2012-03-18 22:14

again...Its only a matter of time for the ANC "herd boy" and his flock of all seem to be bleating louder and louder, keep bleating louder as the sheep are coming to the slaughter. Funny thing is, you slaughtering yourselves...

      Xavier7034 - 2012-03-18 08:32

@Muzy......."part" is "fronting on" ........does not make sense - just like your ANC Cadres....confusion reigns. The ANC is to the people on the streets of SA as I do will be surprised!

  • amanda - 2012-03-17 22:40

Too late for me DA, I sold away my home for a song to get out of KZN. What did you do for us in my ward??? You let Gloria Borman of the ANC take it away - I will never own another home again but at least I am safer here in Cape Town albeit without my own home. So sad. From an ex Kwa Zulu girl born and bred.

  • Carlton Bana - 2012-03-17 22:45

No wonder why SAns can bearly pass Math, and no wonder the ANC gets away with the things they do. The ANC got 62% last general election, and KZN was once governed by IFP. If IFP gets 20% NFP gets 15% DA gets 12% COPE gets 4 then ANC get 49% very possible esp if Zuma gets axed. This means the minority are the majority. Thats more or less how the DA won WC and managed to get 59% in the 2011 elections. Let the fools who keep on saying never and J*s*s keep on saying it this is not Zim the majority makes the goverment(no run off no first past the mark, dont be fool by propaganda). Educate yourself on how our almost FOOL proof constitution works.

      simpiwe.mboniswa - 2012-03-17 23:09

I think the old lady deserves a chance to have a crack, maybe for one term or two. Who knows she might actually improve things. I'm not particularly interested in the name of the political party or the first language of the leader. All I care about is the results (I am convinced someone can actually do better than the current government). Give her a chance to prove herself and fulfill her promises.

      sikhumbuzok - 2012-03-17 23:15

nfp wont take their vote to the da. And the ifp is dead. So there is ur problem. There is no ff in kzn

  • sikhumbuzok - 2012-03-17 23:06

As optimistic as this may be the DA wont win kzn, it cannot win dbn or pmb, those are the biggest cities in kzn. Neither can it win northern kzn which is either nfp or anc dominated. Thst is purely wishful thinking on the part of HZ

  • Jim - 2012-03-17 23:18

What a stupid headline, is there any political party that does not want to win KZN in 2014???

  • Mbulelo - 2012-03-17 23:19

umama uzille uyaphupha emini. There is this herb in kzn called durban poison it can make your have hallucinations .

      richard.hipkin - 2012-03-19 13:18

Nope, it doesn't give you that, I would love to see weed that makes you hallucinate....

  • Nonku Butelezi - 2012-03-17 23:31

I'm from KZN, I'm sorry to say I don't see this happening in 2014. Its 2012 now and the DA is silent, one rally will not encourage people who have been loyal to their active political parties for years. As I've said before, DA is known and supported in predominately white areas so this is rather ambitious.

      Juan - 2012-03-18 03:23

In South Africa it's pretty much the demographic composition that determines the outcome of an election. Now based on that I'd say the best realistic hope the DA has is to become the official opposition in KZN

      Xavier7034 - 2012-03-18 08:38 IS house at time, then one street, then a suburb, then a town....quietly my friend......rallies don't tell the whole will see....all of a sardine....DA!

  • amanda - 2012-03-17 23:33

@sikhumbuzok sadly I think you are right. People out of KZN simply do not understand the complexities of KZN voting patterns.

  • Firoz Jeewa - 2012-03-17 23:50

The DA has spent the past few years going out of their way to block the construction of new mosques in KZN - and for no good reason at all. How will they win KZN when they practice such prejudice against muslims? They must learn that this is the new South Africa and prejudice against any group of people is an outdated practice

      Muhammed Bhyat - 2012-03-17 23:57

      Excellent point!

      Matthew Patrick - 2012-03-18 00:38

Firoz, could you please share the details of this? Not 'cause I'm doubting you, just so you can enlighten us. At the end of the day politics is politics and no parties actions or values are perfect. To get along in this country we all need to understand, and ultimately come to terms with, each other's differences. There is a huge divide among races, religions and cultures in this country and it mainly stems from the ignorance of those who have opposing views. The leadership of this country (the early Dutch settlers, British colonisers, Boer Republicans, Nationalist Party to the current ANC leadership) have always polarised the people of SA against each other. We need to see through this and form our own opinions. This can only come from education and engaging with one another. That is all, rant over.

      Firoz Jeewa - 2012-03-18 01:49

Matthew I agree with you - through understanding and engagement comes peace. One example off the top of my head is a legal battle that the Queensburgh muslim community has been having for about 3 or 4 years to overcome objections by the DA to erecting a mosque which Queensburgh does not have for it's growing muslim community.

      Juan - 2012-03-18 03:27

There are more Muslims in Cape Town than anywhere else in the country. The DA has not prejudiced any Muslims in Cape Town, so why would they do that in KZN? Doesn't make any sense.

      Shaun Robinson - 2012-03-18 07:50

@Firoz - Buddy I don't get it, why should you be called to pray, don't Muslim's have watches???

      Firoz Jeewa - 2012-03-18 09:25

@ Juan: I know, it doesn't make any sense to me either\r\n\r\n@ Shaun: I actually do have a watch programmed with the time of sunrise, sunset, etc for each of the 365 days of the year; but no not every muslim has this gadget. Besides, making a joke of a persons culture only points to ignorance

  • Mantsho - 2012-03-18 00:02

Hellen Zille for president, to hell with Zulus and their president!

      Sipho Cele - 2012-03-18 07:17

I am down with Helen being a president, but ' to hell with Zulus and their president'-isnt this rasist?

      Pule Sebanda - 2012-03-18 08:02

It's a tribalist comment. DA is following other White companies in fronting African people. For those with a short memory, these guys once insulted us by nominating that idiot Joe Seremane for SA President. They did so simply to have an African face since they knew they were not going to win nationally.

      Zizile Mngadi - 2012-03-18 08:29

First racism and now tribalism. Wow black ppl you are really special! This is the kind of mentality that put Zuma there in the first place. Zulu's saying they are tired of these Xhosa's ruling us and they want a Zulu president. This kind of thinking resulted in a lot of black on black killings in the past, wasn't that enough? Should Mathlante suffer the same fate Zuma went through with uMbeki, wii the Sotho's also be up in arms demanding their own Sotho president?

      TheJaydedKing - 2012-03-19 11:08

Sipho - More black ppl vote for the DA than whites.

  • amanda - 2012-03-18 00:10

@ Firoz I have respect for all religions provided they are not in your face all day and every day. Yes, my home faced a mosque and for the first three years it was acceptable to hear the prayers broadcasted out from huge speakers once a day. Then it became several times a day - right up until after 8pm at night. What gives you the right to force your religion down every one elses throats? You are still a minority in KZN and the ANC will ditch you when it suits them. There will come a time when you will also become expendable.

      Firoz Jeewa - 2012-03-18 02:02

Wow, expendible minority . . . what happened to freedom of religion? The reason for this being in our constitution is for us to not just respect each other's religions, but to respect the differences in each other's religions. I am sure that whatever faith you belong to Amanda, if I was intolerant enough, I could find something in there to rant about as being inconvenient to my lifestyle-but I choose to rather respect you. By the way, for those who may not know, the muslim call to prayer does happen 5 times a day, but each time lasts only 3 minutes. The early morning call and the late evening call generally have a much lower volume following engagement with the local residents who are not muslim

  • Matthew Patrick - 2012-03-18 00:20

Many ANC supporters and members choose to ignore the fact that Helen Zille, when she was a journalist, exposed the events behind the death of Steve Biko. Instead they choose to focus on the colour of her skin. Some of my great aunts and my late grandmother were active members of the Black Sash yet they were seen as the 'madams'. When is this ignorance going to end?

  • Willie - 2012-03-18 02:00

    Yes they can!

  • Mtshezi Yonk'insipho Iyawasha Mkhize - 2012-03-18 02:55

Overly ambitious hey, I don't see this happening based on the fact that the DA appointing black people in its leadership roles is seen as a strategy to gain votes, I am from KZN n s lot of people feel ds way n wont b convinced otherwise. People hate the DA for that. Whether the DA appoints black people based on merit or not ain't the issue, issue is how the voters perceive this.

      Rajan - 2012-03-18 16:42

It's impossible to come up with a response that stupid. Words simply fail me.

      Christopher - 2012-03-18 22:23

Then Mtshezi you calling yourself a dumb a**. If thats your whole thought pattern about the DA and who they have as their leaders, I am glad you not part of the DA, The ANC needs people as dumb as you to carry on their tradition. What happens if they just employed white people? would you approve then? Of course not you will then say the DA is a racist party. please don't respond...

  • Danie - 2012-03-18 05:09

Simnikiwe, you might be right, I gve a lift to a woman that walk with great difficulty, She is from Queenstown, could not get a needed hip replacement in the ANC controlled EC, so she use her sisters adress in the Western Cape to get one in George. In addition she mentioned that she had to buy her BP medication at the Queenstown hospital nursing home , as the pharmacy had no medication. Who did she voted for in the last election? not the party that saved her life in the WC , but rather the ANC, that nearly killed her in the EC. Yes you could get the WC back probably with interest, then there would be no more province to go to to save your life. You will just ie in pain like like your brothers and sisters, currently in the, ECIs it realy worth it to vote for crooks that should have been in jail Go for it, and enjoy the results

You go for it DA only then will we see a change for the BETTER which everyone will benefit from

  • Luzuko Tosh Plaatjie - 2012-03-18 06:35

DA is growing fast, If they can maintain it and not let self-absorbed members who only care about positions to spoil it. They will go far

  • Tony - 2012-03-18 07:02

One notes that the first comments on this topic are from posters who traditionally make racist comments about the minority... Just a note...

      Tony - 2012-03-18 19:06

More racists than I thought then...

  • Travis - 2012-03-18 07:47

    you go!!!!!!!

  • Nigel - 2012-03-18 08:00

well lets see, Zuma does not get a 2nd term, & Zulus stop supporting the ANC, this is what the DA is planning for, the difference is that the DA is planing for the future & earning support, while the ANC still relies on promises, lies & deceit to win elections. 2014 I see the DA taking KZN & Gauteng, why because middle-class blacks are shifting away from the corrupt, elitist failing ANC.

      Mtshezi Yonk'insipho Iyawasha Mkhize - 2012-03-18 09:18

I bin reading too much stats!!!

      Mtshezi Yonk'insipho Iyawasha Mkhize - 2012-03-18 09:18

Oh I mean u! Who are these blacks tht we haven't seen nor heard about....

  • sudika.harkhu - 2012-03-18 08:32

well they run many wards here, and are as bad as the ANC in terms of service delivery, so unless they actually deliver, its not gonna happen!

      richard.hipkin - 2012-03-19 13:22

Sadly the provincial government holds the keys to distributing services not ward councillors - here lies the problem with a majority of people in SA, they think the local ward councillors actually have the power to deliver services... all they can do is nag the provincial govt to get their act together.. The fact your DA ward is lacking in service delivery is the fault of provincial govt... You have Internet, use it.

  • Ian - 2012-03-18 08:37

i guess as long the association of national corrupters keep on promising and promising and not delivering the uneducated masses will keep on falling for there BS, wonder what the promise will be this time, maybe 2 free food pusels, pricks

  • Ian - 2012-03-18 08:40

Simnikiwe , how the f do you loan a party a province, if you loaned it to us then please explain to us why time and time again all you here is the anc is your fatboy bitching about losing the Western cape, kind of like the same way they bitch and moan about losing midvaal in the muncipal elections, the people are fed up with your BS promises

  • Zion - 2012-03-18 08:49

Would love to see that happen but reality also plays a part in this dream. When the elections approach then the ANC cadres will be running around in KZN loaded with tins of fish and food baskets plus promises of enclosed loo's. Nothing abnormal about that, is there?

  • curtiswelliem - 2012-03-18 08:55

Not with a white face, they will never win as long as they have a pale face. In that DA, u are making a big joke. Do you think after what the whites did to blacks, we will vote for a white person? Do you think after white the DA does to black people in Cape Town and Western Cape in general, we will vote for you. ? Mxm u might as well swim across the ocean.

      Ian - 2012-03-18 09:01

oh well enjoy your misery then and failed promises

      schalk.mattheys - 2012-03-18 11:42

      Geez curtiswilliem, racist much?

      richard.hipkin - 2012-03-19 13:24

What do they do the black people in WC??? Beat them? Kill them? Enslave them? Bloody useless trolls, the lot of you..

  • Dickson - 2012-03-18 09:04

If you want to kill the beast you must strike for the heart! Good luck Helen and DA.

  • Mtshezi Yonk'insipho Iyawasha Mkhize - 2012-03-18 09:22

The country hasn't healed from Apartheid (if u clever enough u must understand such) This then means tht some misconceptions about Politics haven't changed for example in South African Politics DA is associated with Apartheid. This my people is a perception of an ordinary Black South African... N I guess evn of the DA as a party had a chance of winning KZN,

      Mtshezi Yonk'insipho Iyawasha Mkhize - 2012-03-18 09:28

It will not emerge based on some attitudes on some of the Wgite people I. The country and especially here on this forum, when will white people rid themselves of the hatred against Blacks. Wasn't Apartheid enough? When will White People stop referring to Black as they? N u think we will let Black People put u back in Power not after having visiting this site for 2 months.... Its a shame really. That is why some blacks have gone to the extent of saying rather the corrupt ANC than the DA. Tht how much ds country has not recovered from Apartheid n a prime example of misconceptions existing in society n ur attitude as White people do not help anyhow, pity the DA is associated with u. With such attitudes kusakude Phambili for u guys! It hatred for the Black Government is appalling.

      Rob - 2012-03-18 10:27

If you were white, what attitude would you have to blacks & the thieving ANC in general ? Less breeding & thieving = more feeding !

      Khutso Rele Mokgosi - 2012-03-18 10:37

yes Mtshezi i 100% agree with you. the main reason why most black people continue to vote for the anc despite the corruption is because many white people have not gotten rid of their pre-1994 perception of a black person. reading the comments white people make on this site is just appalling.

      schalk.mattheys - 2012-03-18 11:11

Ever heard of uMgungundlovu? Still think its impossible to forgive and forget? When you keep calling up "Apartheid" as an excuse when it suits you, are you being weak minded or just to indifferent to the real causes for the current state of South African politics? You are right about one thing, that the attitudes of ALL SOUTH AFRICANS (not only the "*Wgite people") need to change if there is to be any hope for a goverment that can be held accountable for its abuse of responsibility of governing the country. Right now with the simple percentages and numbers taken into account, and based on your statement suggesting that whites hate the "Black Government" it just proves that you still perpetuate the very same attitude you are blaming "the Wgite people" for. I could care less about what "color" the government is bru, what I care about is service delivery based on mine and every other taxpayers hard earned money! If you suggest that people vote based on skin color only, then may God have mercy on all of us...

      Rob - 2012-03-18 11:17

KHUTSO. Thats a typical response. The majority of you vote for a black party and lets face it the ANC are a pro black party, because you are taught to hate everything associated with Whites. You flog the racism card to death & yet most of the younger generation have never experianced a racist incident in their lives. This hatred is something that is passed on from generation to generation as it is easier than admitting that your government has been a huge dissapointment to the people. When you lock your doors & windows @ night, it's not for fear of the White bogeyman that is coming to get you, it's due to the " brothers " out there who are raping, stealing & killing all of us with impunity. In fact most of the younger generation who should be contributing to a brighter future for all are so filled with hate dispite having the opportunities denied to their parents. In your hearts you know that Helen Zille & the DA could make a difference to this country. Do you really blame us whites for failing to embrace what the ANC is doing for this country. Only a fool would believe that we have become a better country under ANC rule & better still, that they really care for their people above themselves.

      schalk.mattheys - 2012-03-18 11:19

If you're going to give money to a bank or any other financial institution as an investment, there is no way you will continue banking with the same bank for 17 years, if year after year, your money is stolen and the promised interest on your money is never seen! So why would you keep voting for the same political party when they are year after year, stealing your money and not delivering on the promises that have been made?

      Liz - 2012-03-18 14:56

@ Khutso & Rob. I actually agree with Khutso - the arrogance of so many of the inputs on this forum really appals me too So many of the responses to any proANC views results in really arrogant often very ill informed replies that are intended to insult and put down other people. Your assertion Rob that "African people are taught to hate everything associated with whites" is rubbish. I (as a white) lived in an African township for over a decade and you know what? It was very homely and much more neighbourly than your average middle class "white" superb. For sure there are rough areas and rough people but there are many many people of all races who make a daily effort to "move on" and be a part of a better future. So stop creating this "enemy" mentality because it is of your making and takes us nowhere.

      Rob - 2012-03-18 17:13

@ LIZ. Sure Liz, whatever you say. I understand that as a White person, I am not to criticise anything black related, even if it fact. How PC & " safe " of you to bury your head in the sand, all due to the fact that YOU spent a decade in a Black township & found the people to be " charming. " I think the enemy mentality has already been created by our politicians & lapped up by many of our majority. All I see everyday, is whites bending over backwards to go out of their way to be polite to Blacks in & out of the workplace. It's people like Mtshezi & Khutso here who have this victim mentality & yes lets be honest here, judging by their comments, they do seem less then favourable to Whites in particular. Shame on you Liz, for not seeing things for what they really are!

      Liz - 2012-03-18 19:58

@Rob. My goodness! What an over reaction! There was no suggestion that you should not criticise! Like you - daily I see many whites really working hard to break down some of the barriers of the past but seemingly unlike you I also see many people of colour also trying hard to contribute constructively to building a non racial society. I also know a lot of people who are civil servants for the present government that are very hard working, competent and committed - and I know of others that are useless and incompetent. That is my reality - what do I have to be ashamed about?

  • Brad.Kopping - 2012-03-18 11:10

Simnikiwe i want to ask you a serious question and i hope you answer it seriously: Why do you vote for ANC? They are so rife with corruption, they support zanuPF, the majority are all fatcats only interested in lining their own pockets, they steal BILLIONS from the poor and taxpayers, they enforce acts like the Info Bill to hide all their corruption, in over 10 years they have still not built RDP houses that were promises to the poor, their MP's are rude and undignified and enforce a facsist regime and those who oppose the ANC are either right wing racists or white imperialists... SO i ask you again: Why do you vote ANC?

      Simnikiwe - 2012-03-18 14:31

      Because I can.

      schalk.mattheys - 2012-03-19 15:37

Oh yes you can, just like all the ZANU-PF supporters can vote mugabe in year after year after year...Eish, this is the difference Simi, some people learn from others mistakes, some people learn from their own mistakes and some will never learn...which type of person are you?

  • Jessica Wright - 2012-03-18 11:55

I am so grateful for all the intelligent, open-minded, free-thinking black people in my life. When I encounter idiotic, racist, BLIND ANC supporters, it is these people that give me hope.

  • Gary - 2012-03-18 13:27

BLAH BLAH BLAH!!! bottom line, NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!!

  • Lynne - 2012-03-18 13:53

Remember when you vote that actions speak louder than words. The DA's actions speak for themselves but the ANC are empty vessels making a loud noise and empty promises just to get your vote.

      Liz - 2012-03-18 14:33

Actually I am not sure what the DA has achieved in KZN although I respect them as an opposition party. We have some very big development challenges in KZN and nothing that I have read on their web page leaves me feeling they have done their homework.

  • Simthandile Mpondo - 2012-03-18 16:16

Read today's article about R350m scandal in CT. Ur beloved DA not so innocent now ne. That's y I'll always vote for ANC no matter what.

      Johnny - 2012-03-19 15:28

As per flysouth - March 19, 2012 at 13:22 Report comment "@Simthandile Mpondo - it is obvious that when reading you are not comprehending! One would think that a 'professional' would at least be able to read and understand what the words mean! The tender was cancelled as a result of the irregularities mentioned, which were picked up by the DA and acted upon. They did the correct thing and cancelled the entire deal until it can be properly tendered for in a correct manner! That is how government should act - not like the ANC which happily awards tenders to it's buddies even without any tender process and often where there are massive and blatant iregularities and conflicts of interest!"

  • Rajan - 2012-03-18 16:47

Safe in your home or anywhere else? Educational system to be proud of? Health service to be proud of? Crimninals taken care of and dealth with properly? Corruption severely dealt with? Accountability to the people? Growing economy? Decreasing unemployment? WHAT ARE YOUR ANSWERS to these questions? If the ANC didn't get it right in 18 years what makes them think that they can now. Study history and see what happens when liberation organisations take power. You need to see beyond colour and prejudice. What are the policies of the DA that you disapprove of? Struggling to think of an answer? that's because thinking doesn't come into it. You hate the DA because you see it as a white party trying to wing Black votes. If that's not racist I don't know what is!

      Rob - 2012-03-18 17:03

      100%. Spot on Rajan.

      Mtshezi Yonk'insipho Iyawasha Mkhize - 2012-03-18 17:43

Rajan surely u don't expect people to get over Apartheid that easy?? By forfeiting a party that won them the freedom, let us enjoy our freedom! N by the way how u expect people to ditch the ANC n vote the DA when they haven't gotten economic freedom the political freedom they enjoy now has to be completed by Exonomic Freedom. N listen before u speak nonsense it's not that people are racist, it's lack of knowledge and misconceptions which exist in society which associates DA with the Minority White, well the DA says its non-racial n accommodative of all races, we are just not convinced yet. With that being said We shall continue to vote the ANC.....

      Mtshezi Yonk'insipho Iyawasha Mkhize - 2012-03-18 17:51

No doubt we are disappointed with the ANC, but really does the DA provide a viable alternative? Why do u seem so? What is special about DA, tht they are not as corrupt will not amount to them running this country successfully, do they have the Capacity? What are the chances tht should they regain power we will not have a repeat of Apartheid which is the reason people are skeptical of it, obviously the Apartheid will be subtle bt what bout tendencies amounting to racial discrimination. I am not convinced by the DA... Well so far!!!!

      Alex - 2012-03-18 23:27

Mtshezi. The DA has enjoyed a lengthy history in South African politics. It has had various name changes, particularly during the Apartheid regime, as it grew and formed coalitions with anti-apartheid bodies. It can be associated with the likes of Helen Suzzman, a highly regarded anti-apartheid hero. They were the parliamentary opposition to the Nats and always stood for a non-racial, democratic and equal South African society and fought against Apartheid. Helen Zille started out as a journalist and was responsible for exposing the truth regarding the death of Steve Biko. She was a member of many anti-apartheid organizations and the Black Sash. Why would a party institute something that they fought so hard against, assisted in it's downfall, assisted in establishing a true democracy and has a leader who spent her youth fighting for the oppressed and against oppression? The suggestion that they would reinstate Apartheid is propaganda created by a government who is failing it's people and using the atrocities of the past to manipulate South Africans and cultivate fear of other races to retain power The same tactics employed by the Apartheid government in their quest to retain power.

  • maseratifittipaldi - 2012-03-18 22:16

If South Africa is to move in the direction of a civilized, prosperous and proud Nation, the D.A. will have to take control. Not only of KZN, but of the whole country. And I think 2014 will be too late. Thereafter the D.A., together with all political parties, should disband and a depoliticized system of democratic government implemented in South Africa.

  • Lionel - 2012-03-19 07:57

The IFP's on its way out, so it's doable.

  • Richard - 2012-03-19 12:32

Who does Helen think she is? She's just lost CapeTown because of that prick Carlisle building his conference centre on Chapman's Peak. She needs more botox!

      maseratifittipaldi - 2012-03-19 13:19
