Eastern Cape ANC canvasses for Zuma

2012-10-17 07:25

Johannesburg - The ANC in the Eastern Cape has sent a team to three other provinces to canvass support for a second term for President Jacob Zuma, the Dispatch Online reported on Wednesday.

Provincial secretary Oscar Mabuyane said the team, led by Eastern Cape chairperson Phumulo Masualle, had already met party structures in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and the Free State structures.

"We are arranging meetings with other provinces who propose a somewhat different line-up to ours, to discuss how best we can keep the ANC united because what is clear is that these different provinces are doing harm rather than unifying the ANC," he said.

The African National Congress in the Eastern Cape has indicated that it would encourage its branches to retain Zuma, deputy president Kgalema Motlanthe, secretary-general Gwede Mantashe and national chairperson Baleka Mbete.

Wise men been sent I suppose bearing gifts and promises to tempt the eastern province to vote ANC. Eish and the suffering people will pledge their vote yet again, and protest in time to come.

Winifred,it is actually the eastern province that is tempting other provinces...

  • mshiniboys - 2012-10-17 09:38

There is very little hope that South Africa will ever get a good govenment if we continue like this.Soon there will be people going around shooting anyone who disagrees with them on their preferred candidates.Hit lists could be on the table .

      hopewell.gumede - 2012-10-17 09:42

From my point of view, I do support the proposed leadership.

      nathi.kunene.73 - 2012-10-17 10:36

Mshiniboys, I think this means a complete opposite of shooting people that disagree. Everybody should support a stable ANC because that will give South Africa a better government as leaders would shift their attention from ANC to government.

bhekism, I am only stating the truth. This is why the ANC get so much support, come voting time they go into the rural areas giving handouts and then they tell them about all the wonderful plans and they even take along all these businessmen who will do all this as their support and as soon as the vote is cast, those promises faid into thin air. I am by the way not a racist, I just happen to see things maybe diffent to you and we all know that we are individuals so its good to converse, sometimes we do not always agree on the same things but that is no so bad, is it. Well if the Xhosa's stick together and vote the ANC out, well they would be making a statement to the ANC and maybe who knows they might even end up with a better services etc. We have seen the ANC trying their utmost to destroy the Western Cape, they cant handle not being the top dog in that province.

anyone but zuma, we can't continue with failure. we are not unfortunate nation but decision like this are killing our country. we lack leadership so we can't keep the current people in our face again for the next five years.

      NKAISANA - 2012-10-17 14:26
