I will return to the ANC, vows Malema

2012-09-19 08:48

Johannesburg - Expelled ANC Youth League president Julius Malema has promised to return to the ANC, regardless of the outcome of the party's national elective conference in Mangaung.

During an interview with Talk Radio 702 on Wednesday, Malema said he was expelled from the party because of a "faction" in the ANC which was led by President Jacob Zuma, and which would be "cool-headed" after being re-elected.

Malema said that after the elective conference, the desire to keep him out of the party would end.

"I don't know why Zuma will not accept us back into the organisation after Mangaung."

He said that as an expelled member, no administrative rules prevented him from rejoining the party.

"Being expelled from the ANC means that you can wake up tomorrow and apply to be a member of the ANC," Malema said.

"I'm not rejoining the ANC, I'm joining as a new member of the ANC."

Malema said he still had a good relationship with his branch and participated in its meetings.

"It's my branch. I've never had bad blood in my mind. I've got a bad blood with those ones who have an ambition to be elected," Malema said.

  • Gordon20 - 2012-09-19 08:52

    If you wake up tomorrow.......

      Rabbler.Rouser - 2012-09-19 08:57

Just more theatrics from Malema to stay in the news.

      kala.bafazi - 2012-09-19 08:58

I don't think he has been awake for a while now.

He's getting desperate. You can see desperation in all the stories since the one "Julius Malema's arrest immiment". Still arrogant, but desperate.

      sanda.mnyazi - 2012-09-19 09:51

hahahaha i just love how white people have a go at Malema........... if he dies, you are going to miss him

      gieljam.gomtor - 2012-09-19 10:03

Wonder how much time he still has as the ANC is fast evaporating like mist before the sun.

      frank.kistler.31 - 2012-09-19 10:12

I will return to the ANC, vows Malema - Prolly when JESUS comes buahahahaaaaaaaaaa

      margaret.brand.12 - 2012-09-19 10:46

And tomorrow never comes.......Melama doesn't understand the meaning of the word EXPELLED....The ANC no longer wants you in their party, that is that is why they kick you out.

      maltacular.zinj - 2012-09-19 14:02

I have got no doubt in my mind that Julias Malema is the Nelson Mandela of this generation. As long as the freedom charter has not been addressed to the letter then we will need him to fight for economic freedom with or without the ANC

  • christopher.shining - 2012-09-19 08:53

Odds are you dead before then...

  • deon.louw.7505 - 2012-09-19 08:54

      ian.flack2 - 2012-09-19 09:20

I was rather hopeful that he would die "wih" Zuma......

  • PrettyUsefulArt - 2012-09-19 08:57

Like Malema, I too have "a bad blood with people who want to be elected". Only difference is, he's included in that statement. Find it incongruous that he doesn't see that a mindset of "one boer, one bullet" constitudes bad blood. What a fool the man is. As for his followers... more foolish than the fool himself.

  • mirrorman.smith - 2012-09-19 08:58

This guy is waaaaaay too cocky. Either he knows something we don't, or he is incredibly stupid. I vote the latter. The last thing one would want to do is provoke and alientate the ANC if he wants to return. Time will tell. Hawks, PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE do you job and arrest this nana ASAP.

  • Jaco Liza Venter - 2012-09-19 08:58

If you still alive by that time!!

  • flysouth - 2012-09-19 09:00

The ANC is run so badly - just like the government which it forms - that it is probably true that an expelled member can simply reapply and be allowed to rejoin. All is chaos in the kingdom of the blind and stupid.

  • Joe - 2012-09-19 09:01

No don't join the ANC again, open your own party I will be a member so that we can make sure that the ANC doesn't have the majority in Parliament then we can experience true democracy not this dictatorship

      koos.vandermerwe.75 - 2012-09-19 09:07

True democracy? You know he is only doing all this for the money, contact and tenders don’t you? Got nothing to do with democracy.

      pieter0827006294 - 2012-09-19 09:14

Yes, if hes so unhappy with the ANC let him start his own party

      osmaseko - 2012-09-19 09:21

@koos.vandermerwe.75 I don't care if he is doing it for the money, attention or anything else which may be stupid...he will get my vote as long as the ANC doesn't have the majority seats in parliament and the DA doesn't get my now I am going to vote for azapo...!

      Michael Ward - 2012-09-19 09:23

I agree. He would make a very good leader of any opposition party. That's what opposition does, it keeps the ruling party in check. Let's hope he doesn't get back into the ANC, if he does he will be forced to keep silent on matters of corruption that he knows about.

      JManAtheoi - 2012-09-19 10:08

      koos.vandermerwe.75 - 2012-09-19 09:20

I did not hear that but did see a debate of him on a stage once. Came to the conclusion that you can’t have a debate with someone who can’t debate. What is worse was the crowd clapped and hung on each idiotic word he spewed totally ignoring the debate because he was “one of them”. Also concluded that people like that and you of course deserve Malema and everything he will bring over you.

      joyce.beeton - 2012-09-19 09:38

  • bonge.mpofu - 2012-09-19 09:15

Why not strike at hospitals, burn a few down and kill a few patients, it worked for the miners why won’t it work for the hospital and other essential services? Oh and remember there is no time line for a strike like that. It can happen at any time now thanks to this “agreement”

Malema as ANCYL he is been raising political issues that every citizens(poor) can agreed up on the economic freedom, nationalization of mines and banks, redistribution of land etc. In this site more people would focus more on Malema IQ level rather than his political ideas and I believe than those who were previously advantaged(apartheid losers) they don't want the closing of the gap between rich

... Zuma is in charge of the ANC???? He has the right to fire those who are incompetent under his leadership!!!??? As did Thabo Mbeki when he fired Mathews Phosa, Cyril Ramaphosa and Tokyo Sexwale!!!! You need to read Frank Chikane's book, 8 days in September to understand politics within the ANC no actually you need to go back to school period!! Start by looking up the word expelled on the dictionary!!!!!!

  • eradingoana - 2012-09-19 09:28

If Malema say so, I am afraid Motlanthe has a huge decision to make should he win at Mangaung otherwise he would be on the list of those to be insulted. Motlanthe will break the record by bringing back an expelled member and if so done, no one would be permanently expelled. Surely this would be a reference for the future.

  • Michael Ward - 2012-09-19 09:28

Koos. Money is a great motivator in both good and bad ways. In a good way it motivates one party to "tell tales" on another so the corruption ends up all over the news.

  • khethu.ndlovu.3 - 2012-09-19 09:32

A number of whites here are such frauds, yet they harp on the anc for being corrupt, whats the reason behind using a black name when you very well know ure lily white? To create a confussion amongst blacks? You must be desparate on the extreme.

      koos.vandermerwe.75 - 2012-09-19 09:54

There was a case a while back where a white man changed his name officially to an African one. His BEE rating was not that hot but he got loads of tenders from government only based on his name. He could do the jobs and he did where others would have sub contracted of do a second rate job or not ata all. Clearly he was being discriminated against and he chose to fix that little problem. Of course some of these high ranking cANCer officials had to meet the bloke and they felt like they looked when they met him. So they dragged him off to court and the court found that he did nothing wrong. It was not his fault he got all those tenders based on his name. That story then very quickly disappeared from the radar. Then there are the other niceties like fronting and so on. You call it disparate I call it instinctive survival by taking advantage of well-known weaknesses like the blacks love of prestige, money, ego and so on.

      jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2012-09-19 11:11

Khethu.ndlovu.3 The ANC is corrupt and incompetent and a lot of things in between. When you have worked witn people like Oliver Tambo, you realize that what is governing today is the pits. If we had a decent, honest, hard working government, do you honestly thing there wouldn't be white people voting for them?. Because if you do, you know nothing about white people.

I will alway view Mr Malema as a top class nuisance, however my feelings on him are softening. On paper this man is supposed to be down and out following his expulsion, but he has managed to creep back up into the public much more loud and much more disrespectful than ever. Clearly he a man on a mission, and if and WHEN he returns to the ANC, that's when he will gain my respect, whatever it's worth. I appreciate his hustle, that's the kind of person who should lead this country. Someone with balls of steel.

  • azande.futhi - 2012-09-19 09:42
